Location: This is a hybrid role based out of our Austin, TX office and requires in-office presence three days a week.

Position Summary:

Trend Micro Zero Trust Secure Access (ZTSA) secures access to internal and external applications by preventing unauthorized activity and automatically responding to access violations and risky behavior. It delivers optimal protection against unwanted access across your organization. 

 

We are seeking a Backend Staff Developer to design and implement core platform capabilities for ZTSA. This role focuses on building secure, scalable, cloud-native services and infrastructure, including multi-tenant SaaS architecture, telemetry pipelines and policy enforcement workflows, enabling enterprise customers to adopt Zero Trust access controls at scale. 

Responsibilites:  

Technical Execution & Engineering Excellence 

  • Design, develop, test, deploy and evaluate ZTSA services and features with strong ownership of production readiness.

  • Build and maintain cloud-native, multi-tenant SaaS components with high availability, resiliency and performance. 

  • Build and optimize telemetry pipelines across data ingestion, storage, processing and analytics to support large-scale security telemetry and policy enforcement workflows.

  • Apply strong engineering practices to ensure high code quality, maintainability and long-term extensibility. 

Architecture & Platform Ownership  

  • Drive architectural decisions and technical direction for feature development work. 

  • Establish engineering best practices and reusable patterns to improve overall system consistency and productivity. 

  • Provide technical guidance through design reviews, architecture reviews and engineering standards. 

Product Delivery & Cross-functional Collaboration  

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the features using Agile and DevOps practices ensuring predictable execution and high-quality outcomes. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate requirements into clear, scalable technical designs and deliverable milestones. 

  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early through proactive planning, monitoring and continuous improvement. 

AI-Enabled Development & Innovation  

  • Evaluate and integrate relevant AI development tools and workflows to improve efficiency, code quality and delivery velocity. 

  • Leverage AI technologies in product development and demonstrate measurable engineering or customer impact 

Mentorship Technical influence   

  • Mentor and support engineers through technical collaboration, code reviews and technical knowledge sharing. 

  • Drive improvements in operational ownership, reliability practices and engineering excellence across the team. 

  • Influence multiple teams and stakeholders through technical leadership. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong software engineering experience building cloud platforms and backend services 

  • Typically, 5+ years with architecture ownership  

  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and scalable SaaS architecture. 

  • Strong understanding of cloud-native development and operational best practices. 

  • Solid engineering fundamentals in system design, performance and reliability. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with security products and platforms such as ZTSA. 

  • Experience applying AI tooling to engineering workflows or applying AI capabilities in product development.
