Job Description

100% Onsite

Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Renesas is unable to sponsor applicants for work visas for this position now or in the future.

Renesas Electronics is seeking an experienced Product Engineer (Staff level) to lead the development, qualification, release, and sustaining of advanced semiconductor power products. This role is responsible for driving product engineering execution across the full lifecycle, from silicon bring-up through high-volume production, with a strong focus on product quality, yield optimization, reliability, and customer success. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in power semiconductor technologies (e.g., PMICs, smart power stages, and multi-phase regulator solutions) and demonstrate strong ownership of complex technical challenges while influencing cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own product engineering activities across the full lifecycle, including silicon bring-up, characterization, qualification, production release, and sustaining
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex product, test, and manufacturing issues
  • Drive improvements in yield, test efficiency, product performance, and cost of quality
  • Define and execute characterization and qualification strategies to ensure robust product release
  • Partner with design and test engineering teams to optimize DFT, test coverage, and correlation (bench vs ATE vs system)
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to resolve customer issues and field escalations
  • Analyze yield, parametric, and reliability data to identify trends and drive corrective actions
  • Influence product, test, and manufacturing decisions through strong technical judgment and data-driven insights
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to development of best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, test engineering, or related roles
  • Strong experience in semiconductor industry, with preference for power / analog / mixed-signal products
  • Deep understanding of product lifecycle (NPI through sustaining)
  • Proven track record solving complex technical and yield-related issues
  • Strong data analysis skills (JMP, Python, MATLAB or similar)
  • Experience with ATE, silicon characterization, and production environments
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Successfully lead on-time product releases with robust characterization and qualification coverage
  • Drive measurable improvements in yield, test cost, and product quality
  • Achieve timely resolution of critical product and customer issues
  • Establish strong correlation between bench, ATE, and system-level performance
  • Influence key product and test decisions to improve competitiveness
  • Contribute to team capability growth through mentorship and technical leadership
