Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to

 

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, automate, and continuously develop software tools to improve the availability and resiliency of open source big data platforms at Visa.
  • Perform big data administration and engineering activities on multiple open source clusters.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customer teams, the user community, architects, and engineering teams and jointly work on key deliverables to ensure production scalability and stability.
  • Perform root cause analysis of major production incidents and develop learning documentation.
  • Plan and perform capacity expansion and upgrades in timely manner avoiding any scaling issues and bugs.
  • Automate repetitive tasks to reduce manual effort and avoid human error.
  • Work closely with L-3 teams in reviewing new cases, cluster hardening techniques, and performance problems.
  • Leverage devops tools, disciplines (e.g., incident, problem, and change management) and standards in day-to-day operations.
  • Position reports to the Austin, TX office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
 

  • Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related systems engineer or systems/software administrator occupation.
  • Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related systems engineer or systems/software administrator occupation.
  • Position requires experience in the following:
  • Hadoop Platform environments;
  • Hadoop administration;
  • Zookeeper;
  • HDFS;
  • Yarn;
  • Hive;
  • Spark;
  • Shell and Python scripting; and
  • Unix and Linux.

Worksite: Austin, TX

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

 

Travel Requirements: This position does not required travel.

 

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $134,285.00 USD to $199,300.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for an annual bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position is eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Employee Stock Purchase Program, FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time off and Wellness Programs.
