JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the Chefs with the cleanliness of the kitchen. Unloading delivery trucks from vendors.  Wash all floors, power wash when need be. Scrub the walls, clean the hot boxes regularly. Make sure all dishes and equipment are clean and put back in their proper place. Take out trash and break down boxes. Help with kitchen preparation as needed with basic skill set.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for assisting the Chefs with the cleanliness of the kitchen.
  • Unloading delivery trucks from vendors and using FIFO method.
  • Wash all floors, power wash when need be.
  • Clean the hot boxes regularly
  • Make sure all dishes and equipment are clean and put back in their proper place.
  • Take out trash and break down boxes.
  • Sweep and mop all walk-in coolers, all kitchen areas and back banquet are.
  • Assist Chefs with banquet plate up and ensure that they have clean plates and clean covers for event.
  • Maintain a safe, clean operating environment, ensuring compliance to all local health codes and regulations.

  • Notify Chefs of conflict in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to team results.

  • Helps to establish confidence in the culinary team among peers throughout the hotel and throughout Valencia Group.

  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure to comply with maintaining a safe environment (for example, be proactive with safety initiatives such as using non-slip shoes, keeping clean, organize work area, using wet floor signs, etc.)

BASICS 

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Display courteous behavior with guests and team members
  • Report any unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure hotel equipment is in proper working condition
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Physical Requirements

  • Standing/Walking: Frequently. 
  • Crouching (bend at knees): Frequently, retrieving, storing supplies.
  • Climbing: Frequently. Climb stairs, employee entrance, lobby.
  • Reaching (overhead/extension: Occasionally, retrieving, storing supplies.
  • Handling/Grasping: Frequently. Processing, cutting food products.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Average weight occasionally 10 lbs. Maximum weight occasionally 30 lbs.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Average weight frequently 10 lbs. Maximum weight occasionally 50 lbs.

  • Viewing monitor

 

Working Environment

  • Interior of hotel in all areas of hotel.  
  • Primarily working in a kitchen environment: hot dishes, sharp objects, knives, boiling water, hot stoves/surfaces, potential was floors, slip resistant footwear required. 
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, non-climate-controlled office. 
  • Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions during certain promotional events.
Qualifications

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • Full-service hotel experience preferred 
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience preferred

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with a team and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal abilities
