Position Overview

The RF Business & Product Manager role drives investment direction decisions within NI’s aerospace, defense, and government (ADG) business unit. Busisness & Product Managers penetrate and expand NI’s serviceable addressable market (SAM) by building and prioritizing business cases for new RF test products and systems (combination of hardware, software, services, and partner capabilities), and working with customers, global R&D teams, and technology partners to develop complete solutions that deliver differentiated value to NI customers.[RR1]

Business & Product Management is a critical business leadership function at NI. Business & Product Managers explore and identify market opportunities, help define strategy, and lead cross-functional efforts to achieve the business targets within a specific vertical market segment. Working in close collaboration with Sales, Business Development, Product Management and R&D teams, they define product and system roadmaps that meet customer requirements and deliver business results in a timely fashion.

This position focuses on the test and measurement phases of target customers’ product development cycles, including research and prototyping, validation test, production test, and post-production maintenance and monitoring of radar, electronic warfare, communications, and navigation components and systems.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Monitor key technology trends affecting cutting-edge applications, such as cognitive sensors, autonomous vehicles, emerging threats, and new silicon technologies.
  • Track government program spending on relevant assets, especially RDT&E activities.
  • Assess and define new market spaces, including total addressable market (TAM) and serviceable addressable market (SAM) analysis
  • Develop product and offering objectives, including identifying key market challenges and validating customer value
  • Lead design of differentiated product and offering and customer experience
  • Develop end-to-end business plan for new products and offerings(s); set detailed direction and priorities across disciplines
  • Effectively communicate with both highly-technical customer roles (e.g. Lead/Architect-level Design Engineers, System Engineers, and Test Engineers) and executive-level business leaders (e.g. Senior Program Managers, Business Development Managers, Director/VP of Product Line, Director/VP of Operations, etc.)
  • Manage products and offerings in market and respond to market feedback
  • Establish leading and lagging performance indicators and deliver financial results.

For This Role, You Will Need:
  • 5+ years working experience in offering management, product management, product planning, new product definition, or related role.  Job level will be set based on experience.
  • Technical aptitude and curiosity to develop deep domain expertise
  • Experience in a global and multinational technology company
  • Experience developing and validating business cases and differentiated products or offerings
  • Strong cross-functional team leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other technology-related field required
  • MBA or Master’s degree in technology-related field, demonstrated P/L responsibility, or comparable business experience preferred
  • Experience in commercial aerospace, defense prime contractors, or space sectors strongly preferred
  • Experience with RF technology, especially test and measurement equipment
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, including international travel
