The Systems & Application Engineer III is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise in the development, integration, validation, and support of hardware and software solutions for customers and internal product teams. This role serves as a technical leader who bridges product development, field applications, customer support, and system architecture, ensuring successful deployment of complex embedded and connected systems.

The engineer works closely with customers, product management, hardware design teams, software development teams, and ecosystem partners to define requirements, develop reference designs, troubleshoot technical challenges, and accelerate customer adoption. The role requires strong system-level thinking, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership for system- and application-level design, integration, and validation activities.
  • Support customers through all phases of product development, from architecture design through production deployment.
  • Develop hardware and software demonstrations, reference designs, application notes, and technical collateral.
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into complete system solutions.
  • Perform bring-up, integration, debugging, and validation of embedded systems incorporating microcontrollers, processors, wireless connectivity, sensors, displays, and peripheral devices.
  • Investigate and resolve complex hardware, software, and system-level issues encountered by customers and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to identify product gaps, feature requests, and usability improvements.
  • Provide technical training, workshops, and enablement materials for customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Support product launches by validating solutions, testing software releases, and creating technical content.
  • Work closely with sales and business development teams to support strategic customer engagements and design wins.
  • Participate in architecture reviews and recommend system-level optimizations for performance, reliability, security, and power efficiency.
  • Generate detailed technical reports, root-cause analyses, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices across teams.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
    • Experience supporting customers in a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), Applications Engineer, Systems Engineer, or Technical Marketing role.
    • Experience with IoT, edge AI, machine learning, wireless connectivity, or cloud-connected solutions.
    • Knowledge of Matter, Thread, Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, cellular, or other connectivity technologies.
    • Experience with software development tools, CI/CD environments, and automated testing frameworks.
    • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, secure boot, encryption, and device security.
    • Experience working with semiconductor products, development platforms, and reference designs.
    • Experience presenting at customer meetings, technical workshops, conferences, or training events.
