Job Description

ENTRY LEVEL - 100% on site

Austin, TX

The Performance Core Power product line is seeking a System Applications Engineer who is newly graduated from accredited colleges with EE degrees and is excited about working on cutting edge power solutions for server and infrastructure processor/SOC/ASIC applications. You will support the evaluation, design-in, and qualification of high-performance DC-DC power converter products with Renesas’ advanced digital multi-phase control architectures. Excellent communication skills and technical knowledge are required for frequent interface with multiple internal departments and external customers. We’re looking for someone eager to learn, ready to hit the ground running, and help define what Applications support means for Renesas. Your Role:

  • Product validation and characterization (hands-on work in the lab), and power delivery system debugging
  • Setting up and executing power delivery network (PDN) simulations in power integrity tools
  • Setting up and executing simulations of power converter circuits and systems for development and issue resolution
  • Technical documentation (e.g. application notes and design guidelines) to assist customers in deploying our products
  • Schematic capture/review and PCB layout reviews of evaluation boards and customer board designs

 

Qualifications

  • B.S. required in Electrical Engineering with 0-2 years of cumulative work experiences in power management area (MSEE with no full-time work experience optional)
  • Education background with power electronics focus
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with multi-phase Buck regulators and experience with digitally enabled/controlled power management products
  • Experience with Python or C a plus
  • Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, electronic load, and function generator etc.
  • Experience with analog circuit modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Simplis, and PSpice etc.) required
  • Working knowledge of DC/DC converter topologies which include buck, boost, buck-boost, charge pump converters, and LDOs
  • Expertise in schematic capture, and PCB design tools such as OrCAD, Allegro, and Cadence a plus
  • Working knowledge of control theory, closed loop compensation, stability margin and analysis, etc.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills a must
