We are seeking candidates who will be completing their junior year prior to starting this full-time internship in summer 2024 to join our ES Defense Systems Engineering team here at BAE Systems, Inc. In this exciting role, you will work side-by-side with experienced engineers and senior engineering staff.
This internship will be located on-site at our brand new, premier BAE System's site in Austin, TX. The internship is a paid internship and has a work schedule that includes every other Friday off.
Candidates will gain experience in:
  • Designing, developing and testing solutions utilizing Agile methodologies and sound systems engineering principles while conforming to existing development strategies and processes
  • Assisting in other engineering activities such as integration testing, algorithm & data analysis, software troubleshooting, and preparing documentation in accordance with established procedures.
  • Working with other engineering disciplines such as hardware and software teams
Austin Business Center:
BAE Systems has opened a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in the highly acclaimed Parmer Tech Ridge business park in Northeast corridor of Austin. The facility has 390k square feet total, including a 200k sf tower of offices, conference rooms, high-tech laboratories, a full capability fitness center and an employee cafeteria with a hot grill and a 24-hr market. There is 190k+ sf of manufacturing capacity with space to grow for the future. The facility is in walking distance to the "Pitch" with restaurants, bars and sporting activities located adjacent to the training facility of the professional football club, Austin FC.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program for EE (Electrical Engineering), ECS (Electrical and Computer Science), ME (Mechanical Engineering), or a related field, and will complete your junior year prior to summer 2026
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher highly preferred
  • Laboratory and/or Field Testing skills preferred
  • Good communication and documentation skills

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $49592 - $68993
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
