Serving as a trusted advisor to innovative companies, funds, and investors, you will guide clients through complex tax challenges related to digital assets, blockchain technologies, and emerging financial ecosystems.

In this role, you will lead sophisticated tax consulting and compliance engagements, develop strategic tax solutions, and help clients navigate evolving regulatory guidance while managing risk and identifying opportunities for growth. You'll partner directly with business leaders and entrepreneurs, providing insights that influence critical business decisions and support long-term success.

Note: Open to candidates nationwide. Those within 45 minutes of a BPM office will be expected to follow a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a trusted advisor to cryptocurrency, blockchain, digital asset, Web3, and emerging technology clients on complex federal, state, and international tax matters.
    • Lead the delivery of tax compliance, planning, and consulting engagements for corporations, partnerships, funds, and high-growth companies operating in the digital asset ecosystem.
    • Advise clients on the tax implications of cryptocurrency transactions, token issuances, staking, mining, decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, and other digital asset activities.
    • Research, interpret, and apply evolving tax laws, regulations, and guidance related to digital assets and emerging technologies.
    • Develop innovative tax planning strategies designed to optimize tax positions, mitigate risk, and support client growth objectives.
    • Review complex tax returns, workpapers, and technical memoranda to ensure technical accuracy, quality, and compliance.
    • Collaborate with clients' leadership teams, legal counsel, and finance professionals to address business and tax challenges associated with digital asset operations.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact and trusted business advisor.
    • Lead and mentor Managers, Supervisors, Seniors, and Associates by providing technical guidance, coaching, and professional development support.
    • Oversee engagement economics, including budgets, staffing, project management, realization, and profitability.
    • Contribute to the strategic growth of BPM's Cryptocurrency and Digital Asset practice by helping shape service offerings, identifying market opportunities, and establishing BPM as a leader in the digital asset tax space.

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • CPA license, JD, or EA 
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate or partnership tax, M&A tax, international tax, financial instruments, controversy, or structured transaction analysis.
    • Strong written communication skills and the ability to convert technical complexity into actionable insights.
    • Demonstrated experience managing engagements, budgets, and client workflows.
    • Knowledge of digital-asset market structure, blockchain fundamentals, token mechanics, or on-chain analytics tools preferred but not required.
    • Ability to work remotely or in a hybrid model and to travel up to approximately 20 percent.
    • Curiosity, adaptability, and a demonstrable interest in crypto, DeFi, blockchain infrastructure, or emerging financial technology.
