How We Use AI in Our Hiring Process
Blue J is the leading generative AI solution for tax professionals and one of Canada's fastest-growing AI companies. Headquartered in Toronto, we're a high-growth B2B SaaS company building industry-leading tax research software that helps accountants find accurate answers to complex tax questions with greater speed and confidence.
Backed by a $122M USD Series D funding round, we're scaling rapidly across North America and the UK while continuing to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI. By combining advanced technology with deep tax expertise, we empower tax professionals to work more efficiently, make better decisions, and deliver greater value to their clients.
This role is primarily remote, with the expectation of occasional in-person meetings at our Toronto office and possible rare travel for conferences. Candidates based anywhere in the United States are welcome to apply.
This is a unique opportunity to research, draft, and refine practitioner-facing articles for Blue J's growing content library, covering the full breadth of US tax law, with an eye toward providing additional context and insights on high demand topics. Working with AI tools built specifically for this purpose, you'll typically produce multiple federal tax-related articles or other content pieces per week, to be included in the Blue J content database.
We're looking for a US Tax Lawyer or CPA with experience in US federal tax who is excited about what AI can do for the tax profession and wants to be part of building it. In this role, you will be instrumental in building out a new internal product function from the ground up. If you're a tax person who's excited about technology and wants to do something genuinely different with your expertise, we'd love to meet you.
We’re a team of passionate, driven, and friendly people all working towards the same goal, and are excited to welcome a new Tax Insights Associate to our team!
- Tax Research and Writing: Research, draft, and edit multiple practitioner-facing US tax articles per week, covering areas such as corporate tax, individual tax, deductions, credits, S corporations, partnerships, trusts, exempt organizations and more. You will adapt quickly to researching, understanding and summarizing questions across multiple areas of tax law; evaluate sources for accuracy and currency; efficiently analyze source documents to support your analysis; and assess the quality and accuracy of AI-generated tax analysis. You'll work with AI tools throughout, and will take ownership of accuracy and quality before articles go to your manager for final review.
- Validation: Perform technical review on articles produced by other contributors, checking for accuracy, currency, and alignment with Blue J's content standards. A key part of the role is helping us maintain a high bar as the Blue J content library scales.
- Process Awareness: You will apply your understanding of tax firm workflows to help align our product with real-world use cases. This insight will be critical in refining our solution for broader adoption.
- Teamwork: You will use your tax knowledge to work with other experienced tax professionals, and alongside a team of analysts and data scientists to develop and improve our AI tools. You will build strong relationships with the entire tax research team and the data science team, working collaboratively and learning from each other. You will thrive in our environment where diverse thoughts are welcome and innovation is encouraged. Experience in machine learning and data science is not necessary – just an open mind and an eagerness to collaborate.
- Strategic Thinking: As an early member of this content function, you'll have real influence over how it develops. We want someone who thinks critically about quality, coverage, and how we can continuously improve what we're building.
- Evolving based on customer needs: Our goal is to work in true partnership with our customer (tax professionals) by attending to their feedback, troubleshooting, and incorporating their recommendations to consistently and reliably add value. A key skill in this role is adaptability and openness to new ideas.
- JD or CPA designation.
- 3–7 years of professional experience in US federal tax — at a firm, in-house, government, or a tax-focused research or content role.
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly for a practitioner audience.
- Comfort using AI tools as part of your day-to-day workflow, and real enthusiasm for making it core to how you work.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and consistently hit deadlines.
- Intellectual curiosity and a genuine interest in how technology can improve the tax profession — prior tech experience not required.
- An exciting and rare opportunity to do something genuinely new with your tax expertise. We’re building a revolutionary tool from the ground up, and you will have a meaningful role in shaping what that looks like.
- A mission-driven culture where your work directly advances clarity, efficiency, and accessibility in tax research.
- Competitive base salary, stock options, and benefits designed to support you and your family.
- Flexibility in how you work: primarily remote, with occasional (2-4 times a year) travel to our Toronto office as needed.
- A collaborative, ambitious, and supportive team that values innovation, respect, and fun.
- The excitement of a fast-growing, well-funded company with clear momentum, and the resources to back bold initiatives.
- We are customer-focused
- We put team over self
- We are pleasant and playful
- We are open to better ideas
- We move fast and fix things
We anticipate a high volume of applicants for this role and are excited to grow our team. A human will review each application and get back to you as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and look forward to connecting with you!
