Tax Managers are responsible for the success, retention, and satisfaction of their team and clients by empowering and upskilling staff, overseeing tax compliance services, and developing strong, lasting client relationships. In this role, you will lead our specialized real estate practice—serving Real Estate Investors, Syndicates, and Fund Managers with a dedicated focus on complex multi-tier Partnership structures (Subchapter K), S-Corporations, and high-net-worth individual returns.

Beyond compliance, Managers drive team execution by setting clear performance goals, holding staff accountable to deadlines, quality, and revenue metrics, and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Tax Managers also identify process and efficiency opportunities, implement solutions within their teams, and collaborate with Senior Managers and firm leadership to enhance client service and team performance. In addition, you will participate in and assist teamwide initiatives to drive process improvements, cross-team communication through collaboration, and enhanced client service.

As a team leader, you will provide strategic guidance and coaching across all staff levels to ensure goals, objectives, and processes are clearly communicated, understood, and consistently executed. You will also focus on developing future leaders, fostering accountability, and creating high-performing teams that deliver best-in-class service to both clients and colleagues.

We are a 100% virtual CPA firm, with our team located across the United States. As a real estate niche-focused firm, we serve Real Estate Investors, Syndicates, and Fund Managers. Our team has a passion for real estate and often owns investment properties themselves.

Team members who thrive at our firm have excellent time management skills, are self-starters, adaptable, take pride in their work, and work well in an autonomous environment.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Conduct final reviews of complex partnership, syndication, and multi-state returns, sign tax returns and deliver to clients, and provide a brief recap video or phone call to walk the client through the return, highlighting key tax positions

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in Subchapter K, special allocations (Section 704(b) and 704(c)), capital account maintenance, and complex real estate transaction structuring

  • Provide best-in-class service to clients, serving as the primary client relationship manager, proactively managing expectations, leading resolution on tax notices/audits, and recommending additional firm services (e.g., bookkeeping services, tax advisory)

  • Conduct regular coaching and training sessions, as well as monthly goal check-ins, to upskill preparers and senior accountants, remove blockers, foster accountability, and encourage professional growth

  • Set clear performance targets, monitor progress, and drive team adherence to internal deadlines, revenue targets, and quality standards

  • Collaborate with Senior Managers and firm leadership on continuous process improvement, tax tech stack automation, and efficiency/innovation committees

Measures for Success

  • Client Retention & Cross-Selling: High annual client retention rates and proactive identification of advisory opportunities

  • Timeliness of Deliverables: Team meets internal deliverable deadlines consistently

  • Quality & Revenue: Team meets internal quality, realization, and revenue targets consistently

  • Employee Experience: Engagement and upward feedback surveys reflecting accountability, satisfaction, leadership, support, and development of staff

  • Clean background with no noise or distractions

  • Business casual attire for client interactions

  • Always use video (80% of communication is non-verbal)

  • We provide a laptop and an annual $500 tech reimbursement for computer/tech accessories

You’re a Good Fit For Our Culture If:

  • You’re friendly, have a sense of humor, enjoy helping and teaching others, and speak kindly of others

  • You’re disciplined and thrive in a fast-paced environment that is in relentless pursuit of changing the accounting industry

  • You have exceptional time management and supervisory skills

  • You possess excellent communication and listening skills, breaking down barriers to solve problems and improve operational performance

  • You take ownership of your work, clients, and team members and drive projects to the finish line

  • You love working with and speaking to clients, delivering results, and improving their lives

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive public accounting tax experience, with extensive exposure to partnership taxation, real estate syndications, or private equity funds

  • CPA or EA certification required, as this role is responsible for signing tax returns
