Role/Title: Principal Architect (Lakehouse – Microsoft Fabric/OneLake)

Location: Denver, CO

Job Description:

  • Own the target medallion architecture on OneLake and lead the evaluation and recommendation of Microsoft Fabric versus Azure Databricks, with a documented decision record and rationale.
  • Define and enforce the architectural standards, patterns and conventions all workstreams follow — one architecture, one standard.
  • Provide technical leadership to the reverse engineers, system SMEs and AI/ML engineer, reviewing entity models, mappings and pipeline designs for consistency and quality.
  • Design the Data Backbone (DNA) — the lightweight master-data layer of governed crosswalk keys — and the lightweight MDM approach that sustains it.
  • Design the data-quality gate framework, KPI certification model with confidence scoring, lineage and observability approach, and SLA-breach monitoring across the medallion layers.
  • Codify the repeatable Bronze → Gold method into reusable templates and reference implementations that can be re-run system by system, working with the AI/ML Engineer on automation.
  • Lead the technical governance interface with Client architecture, security and platform teams, including Purview catalog and glossary design and Power BI / Fabric Data Agent enablement over certified Gold data.
  • Own traceability and auditability of data on its path to Gold and define the technical operating model for the ongoing DataOps service handed over at programme close.
  • Contribute to hypercare and to knowledge transfer into the permanent Client team.
