UCT is looking for a talented Tube Bender Lead to join us in Austin, TX!
The Tube Bender Lead oversees daily tube bending and fabrication activities supporting semiconductor equipment builds, gas delivery systems, and facility infrastructure. This role provides hands‑on technical expertise and coordination of work assignments, ensuring precision fabrication, cleanliness, and compliance with safety and quality standards. The Lead supports process improvements, troubleshooting, and training while ensuring consistent execution of tube bending operations to meet production, engineering, and installation requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead daily tube bending, cutting, forming, and assembly tasks according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Assign work, coordinate priorities, and ensure timely execution to meet production and project schedules.
- Train, mentor, and guide Tube Bender I–II personnel on proper techniques, equipment uses, and safety practices.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and job travelers for tubing requirements and fabrication steps.
- Perform complex tube bending operations with tight tolerances, specialty materials, and high‑purity/clean applications.
- Inspect tubing assemblies for accuracy, quality, surface finish, and dimensional compliance.
- Ensure adherence to contamination control, cleanroom requirements, and semiconductor gas-line standards.
- Identify issues related to tooling, material defects, or measurement discrepancies; coordinate resolutions with Engineering or Quality.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including fabrication records, inspections, and material traceability.
- Support continuous improvement and standardization of tube fabrication processes, tooling, and work instructions.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Facilities, and Installation teams on equipment builds, retrofits, and system modifications.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and equipment maintenance guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in tube bending, fabrication, or mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and detailed tubing specifications.
- Proficiency with tube bending equipment, fixtures, measurement tools, and in‑process inspection methods.
- Understanding of safety, quality, and contamination control practices.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to lead and coordinate team activities.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing, high‑purity gas systems, or specialty tubing applications.
- Familiarity with stainless steel, copper, and specialty alloy tube bending.
- Experience with orbital welding interfaces, gas panel assemblies, or facility piping modifications.
- Demonstrated success improving fabrication processes or reducing rework/scrap.
- Experience mentoring or training junior technicians in precision fabrication environments.
Education, Certifications, Requirements:
- Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or training in mechanical fabrication, tube bending, or manufacturing technology.
- Safety training for metal fabrication, high‑purity tubing, or cleanroom environments.
- Certifications in high‑purity tubing standards (e.g., SEMI standards) a plus.
