Job Description

Job Summary

Stewart Title is looking for a knowledgeable, service-driven Title Insurance Underwriter to support our Texas operations. In this role, you will evaluate risk, underwrite residential and commercial transactions, and provide clear guidance to internal teams and customers while helping drive accuracy, consistency, and timely closings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyze and approve title policy exceptions, endorsements, and coverage requests; recommend solutions for complex title issues.

  • Identify risk trends and support process improvements to reduce claims exposure and increase consistency across files Determines premiums, terms and conditions based established rules, rates, and guidelines

  • Strong working knowledge of Texas real property concepts, common defects, curative practices, and insurability standards.

  • Performs a range of assignments and may lead projects within own discipline

  • Applies working knowledge of business and best practices gained through understanding of key business drivers and recognition of how own area integrates within organization

  • Ability to interpret title searches/exams, commitments, legal descriptions, recorded instruments, and related documentation.

  • Solves moderately complex to complex problems and analyzes possible solutions using technical experience, judgement and precedents

  • Excellent communication skills and sound judgment; ability to explain decisions clearly and professionally.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues, provides guidance to less experienced team members

  • Individual contributor working with limited oversight

  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred

Experience

  • Typically requires 5+ years of related work experience
