As an Underwriting Support Specialist I, you will play a key role in supporting underwriting operations by processing activities that help fulfill the needs of our customers. Responsibilities & Qualifications

Essential Functions:

In this role, you can expect to: 

  • Support field underwriting by responding to routine inquiries and requests for assistance from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Utilize company systems to process applications, quotes, issue policies and changes, and manage cancellations and reinstatement.
  • Enter and maintain accurate policyholder and agent records, completing transactions within established time and quality standards.
  • Review requests, identify necessary actions, and consult internal resources to locate and update missing information in company systems.
  • Generate and distribute standard underwriting reports, such as loss run data, as requested by management, underwriting staff, policyholders, and agents.
  • Analyze workload and prioritize tasks to effectively meet customer needs and service standards.
  • Collaborate with underwriting staff to support the overall efficiency of the underwriting process and assist in special projects as needed.

It's required that you:

  • Have a high school diploma.

  • Have 2-4 years of experience in data entry, clerical, customer service, or insurance experience or equivalent education, training, or experience.  

  • Can type at least 35 words per minute.

  • Have Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Have a willingness to adapt as processes and systems evolve

Training and in-office expectations:

  • Training spans 24 weeks.  We will help to ensure you are prepared and successful in your new career!

  • During the 24 weeks of training, approximately 5-6 weeks will take place in-person at our office in Austin, TX. 

  • After training, you will have more flexibility to work a flex-hybrid schedule, with at least two mandatory in-office days per month.

Texas Mutual Pay Transparency

The base pay range is based on the market evaluation of the job and may include pay for multiple levels. Individual base pay within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, performance, education, and demonstration of skills and competencies required for each role. Your recruiter can discuss the full value of our total compensation package with you, including our generous bonus plans and flex-hybrid work model.

Base Pay Range: $22.98 - $28.39 Per Hour
