About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Natural Gas Trader to join our Feedstocks and Commodities organization in Houston, TX! We are seeking someone with a proven track record of generating value through physical and/or financial commodity trading, with deep expertise in natural gas, NGLs, crude oil or related commodities markets.

In this role, you will manage a mid-nine-figure commodities portfolio with a focus on US natural gas, and responsible for identifying market opportunities, executing trading and hedging strategies, managing risk, and delivering consistent performance in highly dynamic global commodities market

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute trading and hedging strategies in gas related markets.
  • Generate consistent trading profit and derivative results within approved risk parameters.
  • Execute transactions using futures, swaps, options, and other commodity derivatives.
  • Identify arbitrage opportunities and market dislocations across regions, products, and time structures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with traders, producers, consumers, refiners, marketers, brokers, exchanges, banks, and other market participants.
  • Support the research team on development of market views, pricing forecasts, and trading recommendations for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, risk, and governance requirements.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree (preferably in a quantitative field (e.g. Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics) or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant working experience.
  • Willing and able to travel as required for this role.
  • Flexibility to support the sites during off hours, especially during and after weather or other emergencies.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S.-based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency process.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to generate consistent profit and manage risk in volatile markets.
  • Demonstrated experience trading one or more of the following: Natural Gas, NGLs (Ethane, Propane, Butane), Crude Oil, other related commodities markets
  • Experience with commodity derivatives including futures, swaps, and options.
  • Deep knowledge in quantitative modelling and predictive analytics.
  • Strong understanding of physical market fundamentals and logistics.
  • Advanced degree (Master's, PhD)
  • CFA certification or equivalent (e.g. FRM, CAIA, CMT, CQF).
  • Experience with algorithmic or systematic trading strategies.
  • International trading experience across multiple regions and commodity markets.

  • Prioritization: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and stakeholder needs.
