Job Overview:

The Vice President, Product Strategy & Management is responsible for setting the strategic direction and driving the performance of Lexia’s student instruction, professional learning, and educator insights product portfolio. This role owns product‑level strategy, integrated product roadmaps, lifecycle management, and product outcomes, ensuring products deliver meaningful impact for students and educators while supporting business goals.

Reporting to the SVP, Product, the VP leads a high‑performing product management and technical product management organization and works closely with cross‑functional partners across Product, Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Customer Success. This VP will harness their deep K–12 knowledge to translate classroom realities into innovative product strategies that accelerate literacy outcomes and improve educator effectiveness.

Serving as a critical bridge between strategy and execution, this leader ensures product investments are focused, data‑informed, and aligned to Lexia’s mission of Literacy for All.

Job Responsibilities:

Portfolio Strategy & Performance

  • Own the strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle management of all product lines within the portfolio, aligned to business goals.
  • Translate product vision into cohesive, integrated roadmaps, and clear product strategies.
  • Lead data‑informed decision‑making for product lifecycle transitions, investment focus, and support plans.
  • Work with Product Operations to define, track, and communicate key product performance metrics (adoption, engagement, financial contribution) to executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with SVP, Product to drive strong product contributions across product lines, including collaborating on forecasting, and investment scenario planning.

Strategic Roadmap Ownership & Execution

  • Collaborate with Product Operations to forecast, track, and report portfolio budgets; document and report variance analysis, and product margin reviews.
  • Lead the Product Management teams in translating Lexia’s vision of Literacy for All and the broader product strategy into actionable, integrated roadmaps across Professional Learning, Student Instruction and Educator Insights.
  • Ensure roadmaps are aligned to market needs and strategic business objectives, appropriately resourced to match strategic investment levels, and designed to deliver measurable incremental value.
  • Develop and maintain frameworks for product‑market fit, competitive differentiation, and market positioning.
  • Identify and implement scalable, AI-based tools for updating, maintaining, and communicating roadmaps across the portfolio.
  • Lead repeatable processes for portfolio planning, communicating roadmap updates, and go‑to‑market product readiness.

Market Insights & Alignment

  • Coordinate market analysis, customer research, and competitive intelligence efforts to identify and scope critical investment opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Research to ensure roadmaps reflect the needs of districts, states, teachers, and students.
  • Establish structured, repeatable cross‑functional processes for integrating customer feedback, GTM insights, competitive intelligence, and market trends into planning.

Product Development & Lifecycle Leadership

  • Drive strong product management practices, ensuring requirements are clear and documented, user stories are well defined, and outcomes are measurable.
  • Partner with Education & Research, Design, and Engineering with a problem‑solving mindset to deliver high‑quality K-12 curriculum and digital products grounded in sound pedagogy.
  • Align collaborative processes across Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure cohesive development and delivery.
  • Partner with Finance, Sales, and Operations to align product timelines with resource plans, revenue goals, and district and state adoption cycles.
  • Serve as a bridge between strategy and execution across content, technology, and delivery.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor high‑performing product management and technical product management teams that leverage the latest systems and tools to plan and iterate with speed at scale.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer‑centricity, innovation, and continuous improvement aligned to Lexia’s strategic objectives.
  • Identify and equip team members with the frameworks, AI-based tools, and skills training needed to deliver consistently and effectively.

Executive & External Engagement

  • Represent the product portfolio in executive forums, providing insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Participate in high‑stakes customer engagements, as appropriate, to inform product direction and strengthen relationships.
  • Model best practices in innovative thinking across the portfolio, establishing shared tools, frameworks, and templates to drive consistency and focus.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 8–10 years of product leadership experience in edtech or adjacent space, including 3+ years leading multi-product teams
  • Proven track record of owning product roadmaps and delivering impact in large‑scale product portfolios.
  • Deep, up-to-date expertise in the K-12 landscape, including a comprehensive understanding of Request for Proposals (RFPs), state purchasing processes, and K-12 decision-making cycles; and a strong background in K–12 EdTech or adjacent mission-driven industries.
  • Demonstrated success with SaaS or technology‑enabled education products, driving adoption, retention, and revenue growth.
  • Experience leading within cross‑functional product teams or matrixed organizations to deliver complex digital curriculum products at scale.
  • Exceptional organizational and operational skills, balancing long‑term strategy with near‑term execution.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Experience:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience and/or VP-level leadership
