The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve America’s housing crisis through all-out production. We believe that America’s affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and that solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: We buy land, and manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers. This is the only way to build at the scale necessary to solve this crisis.

The American Dream is built, not inherited. We're hiring the best engineers, designers, and builders to solve the hardest problem in America.

As the VP of Finance, you will own corporate finance for American Housing. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, you will translate our growth strategy into a clear financial plan and guide financial performance, resource allocation, and investment decisions across corporate operations, manufacturing, and real estate development.

This is a pivotal leadership hire. The ideal candidate is an accomplished corporate finance leader with a strong real estate background and a deep understanding of real estate capital. You will connect project economics, operating performance, and company liquidity, while partnering closely with Capital Markets to ensure our financing activities are supported by rigorous financial analysis and a clear understanding of the company’s needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead corporate financial planning, annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range planning. Maintain an integrated financial model connecting the company’s income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow across corporate operations, manufacturing, and real estate.

  • Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CEO and leadership team. Evaluate growth plans, major investments, and resource commitments, making clear recommendations grounded in expected returns, capital requirements, and downside risk.

  • Partner with Capital Markets on fundraising and financing activities. Provide financial models, forecasts, and diligence materials; assess how proposed financing structures and terms affect company cash flow, project returns, and balance sheet risk.

  • Establish financial underwriting standards and partner with real estate leaders to evaluate development opportunities. Challenge assumptions on costs, schedules, pricing, sales pace, and financing, and track project performance against approved business plans.

  • Partner with manufacturing and construction leaders to improve unit economics and operating performance. Connect factory utilization, production costs, construction spending, and delivery timelines to completed-home profitability and cash flow.

  • Deliver clear financial reporting to leadership, the board, investors, and lenders. Explain performance at the company, operating-function, and project levels, identify emerging risks, and work with business leaders on corrective actions.

  • Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and tax coordination across corporate and project entities. Ensure timely closes, accurate consolidated reporting, appropriate treatment of inventory and project costs, consistent intercompany accounting, and effective internal controls.

  • Build and lead the finance function and its external partners. Establish the team, systems, and processes needed to support a growing business with increasingly complex operations and capital relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years of corporate finance experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility and demonstrated success building or leading a finance function.

  • Proven ownership of corporate financial planning, liquidity management, financial reporting, and executive decision support within a capital-intensive operating business.

  • A strong preference for experience leading corporate finance within a real estate developer, homebuilder, or real estate operating platform.

  • Deep understanding of real estate debt, equity, and joint venture structures, including project cash flows, investment returns, distribution waterfalls, guarantees, covenants, and restrictions on the use of capital.

  • Experience partnering with capital markets teams, investors, and lenders on financing analysis, financial diligence, and ongoing reporting.

  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including integrated company forecasts, project underwriting, and scenario analysis. Able to explain how changes in project timing, operating costs, sales, or financing affect the broader business.

  • A strong accounting and financial reporting foundation, with experience overseeing multiple entities, consolidated results, internal controls, and external accounting and tax advisors.

  • A track record of turning financial analysis into better operating decisions, stronger cash discipline, and measurable business results.

  • Sound commercial judgment, clear executive communication, and the confidence to challenge assumptions and hold business leaders accountable.

  • Comfortable setting direction while remaining directly involved in critical analyses and decisions. Experience across manufacturing or construction operations is valuable.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This is a full-time position located in Austin, TX.

  • AHC provides comprehensive benefits, PTO, and participation in company equity programs.
