Our Company:

Abyss Solutions is reinventing industrial asset management both above and underwater for step-change improvements in; asset  life, maintenance cost, and reduction of failure risk. Think oil rigs, dam walls, ship hulls, any asset subject to deterioration in water and weather.

 

We do so utilize extremely sophisticated, unique (and patented) Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning software together with a deep understanding of our customers’ asset integrity needs and processes. Creating a 3D ‘digital twin’ of customer assets. Using drones and Abyss analytics is just the beginning, Abyss comprehensively classifies the ‘state’ of the asset to identify exactly what maintenance is required, providing precise direction.

 

Abyss is driving to fully automate the maintenance process, expanding applications and capabilities into

other verticals.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Vice President of Marketing will lead the overall marketing strategy, brand positioning, and demand generation initiatives for the organization.

The company does not currently have a marketing function and the candidate needs to have experience building a brand, team, strategy, and tactics from scratch.

This role is responsible for driving growth, enhancing brand visibility, and ensuring alignment between marketing, sales, and business objectives. The VP of Marketing will oversee all marketing functions including digital, product marketing, communications, and customer engagement.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with business goals and revenue targets
  • Lead brand positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies across all channels
  • Drive demand generation, lead acquisition, and customer retention initiatives
  • Oversee digital marketing, content, performance marketing, and social media strategies
  • Collaborate closely with Sales to optimize pipeline growth and conversion rates
  • Manage marketing budgets, ROI tracking, and performance analytics
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing marketing team
  • Identify market trends, customer insights, and competitive positioning
  • Strengthen public relations, corporate communications, and thought leadership
  • Ensure consistent brand identity across all platforms and touchpoints
  • Partner with product and customer success teams to enhance customer experience

 

 

Person specification:

  • Proven ability to develop and execute high-impact marketing strategies that drive business growth
  • Must have oil & gas Industry experience
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing, mentoring, and scaling high-performing teams
  • Excellent strategic thinking with the ability to translate business goals into actionable plans
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working cross-functionally (Sales, Product, Customer Success)
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing, brand management, and demand generation
  • Experience operating in global or multi-regional markets
  • High level of commercial awareness and business acumen
  • Results-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment

Role’s specification:

  • Based in Houston but hybrid work schedule

 

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification (preferred)
  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in marketing
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role (e.g., Head of Marketing, Director)
