About the role

The Vice President, Middle Office Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, operational integrity, and continued evolution of Tidal’s middle office function. This role ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and control of trading-related operations across asset classes while supporting a growing and increasingly complex ETF platform. 
 
As a key member of the operations leadership team, the VP will set direction for middle office strategy, lead and develop a high-performing team, and serve as a trusted partner to Trading, Portfolio Management, Technology, Compliance, and external service providers. 

What you'll do

Leadership & Strategy 

  • Provide executive leadership and oversight of middle office operations, including trade support, reconciliation, clearing and settlement, collateral management, and cash movements. 
  • Define and evolve the middle office operating model to support platform growth, new product launches, and increased trading complexity. 
  • Establish, monitor, and report on measurable operational goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and strategic initiatives to drive efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and risk reduction. 
  • Translate organizational and operational priorities into clear, executable initiatives with defined success metrics, timelines, and ownership. 
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and effective risk mitigation. 
  • Partner closely with Trading and Portfolio Management leadership to ensure operational alignment with investment strategies and market activity. 

People Management & Team Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of middle office professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence. 
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations; provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and career development support. 
  • Assess resource needs and support hiring, onboarding, and training to scale the function sustainably. 
  • Promote strong documentation standards, cross-training, and operational resilience across the team. 

Process Improvement & Technology Enablement 

  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and effective use of technology. 
  • Partner with Technology and external vendors on system enhancements, OMS integrations, and data quality initiatives. 
  • Track and assess the impact of process improvement and technology initiatives through data-driven metrics and ongoing performance reviews. 
  • Ensure procedures and workflows are well documented and aligned with scalable, repeatable processes. 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in investment operations, middle office, or post-trade functions with progressive leadership responsibility. 
  • Demonstrated success leading, developing, and scaling teams in a regulated environment. 
  • Deep understanding of trading operations across derivatives, fixed income, and securities markets. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
