A Day in the Life and the Impact You’ll Make:

The Vice President, Process Safety Consulting & Testing Laboratories, is responsible for the overall strategic, commercial, and operational leadership of DEKRA’s Process Safety Consulting organization and Process Safety Testing Laboratory across the Americas. This executive leader is accountable for driving profitable growth, delivering differentiated client outcomes, and building a high-performance, safety-first culture across both consulting and laboratory operations. The role owns full P&L responsibility, including revenue growth, margin performance, and investment prioritization, while expanding DEKRA’s market presence and technical leadership in process safety. In close partnership with Sales, Marketing, and the Consulting & Training (C&T) Leadership Team, as well as global DEKRA stakeholders, the VP will help advance holistic safety solutions by integrating process safety consulting, laboratory capabilities, and broader advisory offerings to address complex client risk and performance challenges. The VP will further differentiate DEKRA’s integrated consulting-and-lab capabilities, accelerate cross-selling and solution innovation, and ensure consistent delivery excellence, quality, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will thrive in a complex, fast-growing environment and bring a builder’s mindset to scaling teams, capabilities, and client impact. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Actively contributes to a culture of safety and health by demonstrating accountability, communication, and oversight in the following key areas: Strategic Alignment, Accountability, Performance Monitoring, Reports, Communication & Engagement, Incident Management, and Corrective Actions.
  • Define and execute the strategy to scale DEKRA’s Process Safety Consulting and Testing Laboratory businesses, driving sustainable, profitable growth across the Americas.
  • Own full P&L responsibility, including delivery of annual revenue, EBIT, margin, and growth objectives.
  • Identify, develop, and commercialize new service offerings and market opportunities aligned with evolving client needs, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
  • Drive operational excellence across consulting and laboratory operations, ensuring consistent delivery quality, employee safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement.
  • Establish, enforce, and continuously improve laboratory safety programs, operating procedures, and best practices, ensuring compliance with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry-leading safety protocols.
  • Oversee resource planning, workforce capacity, utilization, and delivery timelines to optimize performance across consulting and lab services.
  • Collaborate closely with the Consulting & Training (C&T) Leadership Team to design, position, and deliver holistic, integrated safety solutions that combine process safety consulting, laboratory capabilities, and broader advisory offerings.
  • Lead the development, deployment, and scaling of strategic process safety solutions, including High Reliability Organization (HRO), Process Safety Governance and Strategy Design, and Process Safety Management (PSM) system optimization.
  • Champion a high-performance, people-first culture that emphasizes employee engagement, professional development, inclusion, and well-being.
  • Foster a client-centric operating model grounded in partnership, trust, technical excellence, and the highest safety standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse, high-performing leadership team, building bench strength and succession capability.
  • Serve as a senior executive interface with key and strategic clients, ensuring client satisfaction, long-term relationships, and expansion opportunities.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to support business development, major pursuits, solution differentiation, and go-to-market execution.
  • Represent DEKRA externally at industry forums, conferences, and client engagements as a recognized thought leader in Process Safety.
  • Actively participate in the Global Process Safety Leadership Team, contributing to global strategy, capability development, and the sharing of best practices.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, or a related technical field required; professional credentials (e.g. PE) and advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in industrial or manufacturing environments with direct accountability for process safety, operations, and risk management, complemented by experience in process safety consulting, laboratory operations, and/or technical services, and a proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven track record of building, scaling, and integrating profitable business units within consulting, laboratory, or technical services organizations.
  • Demonstrated ownership of P&L performance, including revenue growth, margin improvement, and disciplined cost and investment management.
  • Strength in people leadership, with a clear history of coaching, developing, and retaining high-performing leaders and teams.
  • Strategic, analytical, and financial acumen, with the ability to translate strategy into executable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Executive-level communication and influencing skills, with credibility engaging clients, senior executives, regulators, and global stakeholders.
  • Deep commitment to safety leadership, ethical conduct, quality, and continuous improvement, with a visible track record of embedding best practices in both consulting and laboratory environments. 

Physical Considerations: 

  • Ability to commute to client locations
  • Ability to handle extended periods of computer-based work, including telephone.
  • Must always display professional and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs.

Travel Considerations: 

  • Domestic and/or international travel required, estimated up to 25%

What You’ll Receive for the Value You Bring:

Compensation: 

The base pay range for this position is $250,000 annually to $300,000 annually.  This position is designated as bonus-eligible, subject to plan terms and conditions.  Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
