Job Description

This role is part of the Group Credit Policy & Governance (CPG) team which provides independent oversight of Personal Financial Services (PFS) Loans Portfolio for UOB Group.  The successful candidate will support the review and maintenance of the Group Retail Credit Policy and Process Standards (GRCPPS), provide independent review and recommendation on approval of credit policies changes/ credit papers in line with the governance process.  The incumbent will also perform independent monitoring of portfolio quality of PFS loans across countries in alignment with the approved risk appetite and undertake strategic projects as part of overall Group Retail Credit and Group CPG collective agenda. 

Key Responsibilities:

Policy Oversight & Advisory

  • Review and maintain Group Policy Standards, Frameworks, and Guidelines to ensure alignment with the Bank’s credit risk appetite.
  • Provide advisory support to regional countries on Group Policy and Framework-related matters.

Portfolio Governance & Monitoring

  • Collaborate with country CPG function to review Portfolio Review Document (PRD), credit policy changes, credit test proposal, credit scorecard cut-off & segmentation review, portfolio benchmarks setting and other credit initiatives.  Provide independent view and recommendations for Group Retail Credit approval.
  • Track and report Retail Risk Appetite (RRA), Risk Discipline Framework (RDF) metrics and other Credit KPIs across regional countries. 
  • Monitor regional PFS loan portfolio to identify and escalate emerging risks, ensuring sound portfolio quality is maintained.
  • Support the preparation and reporting for Quarterly Credit Review (QCR) to Senior Management and the Group Credit Committee.

Data-Driven Oversight & Automation

  • Ensure effective portfolio monitoring and MIS tracking with a focus on continuous improvement through automation and process improvement.
  • Support the enhancement to the governance process and transition to the “smart” oversight model by leveraging on data, analytics and advanced technology (e.g. GenAI). 
  • Play a key role in the establishment and implementation of the policy & governance platform to support the oversight process

Risk Assurance & Governance Enhancement

  • Partner with internal CPG team to strengthen the independent risk assurance process, including the use of analytics and the development of governance-related assurance protocols.

Skills & Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a retail credit risk management role preferably in credit risk policy, MIS or portfolio management of Unsecured Portfolios.  Candidates with experiences in risk assurance area are welcome to apply.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Business and Finance preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, business acumen and attention to details.
  • Effective communicator with strong presentation skills.
  • Regional experience and familiarity with consumer credit regulations across markets is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Knowledge of SAS, SQL, decision tree tools, and visualization software (e.g. Power BI) is desirable
  • Understanding of Basel Capital Rules, Credit Scorecards, or IFRS9 is an advantage
  • Proactive and self-motivated, eager to learn with a positive attitude to take on ad-hoc projects and initiatives

Additional Requirements

Engage, English, Execute, Role Type (GTO), To review Group Policy Standard, Frameworks/ Guidelines and maintain them over time to ensure that PFS Loans portfolios operate within the desired appetite.
To support the smooth migration of Citi portfolio into UOB under CPG sub-stream, liaise and work with other sub-streams within overall Retail Credit workstream and relevant stakeholders to ensure successful integration process.
To work closely with countries CPG function on review of Portfolio Review Document (PRD), credit policy changes, credit test proposal, and other initiatives that require approval from Group Retail Credit.
To assume the advisory role to and consult regional countries on Group Policy & Framework related matters.
Responsible for tracking of consolidated Retail Risk Appetite, Risk Discipline Framework (RDF) metrics and Credit KPIs across regional countries
Perform monitoring of regional countries portfolio and highlight the key and emerging risks to ensure that sound portfolio quality is maintained.
To support the portfolio review reporting and preparation for Quarterly Credit Review of Retail Portfolio with Senior Management and Group Credit Committee. 
To work closely with CPG team in enhancing the independent risk assurance process
To undertake ad hoc projects as part of Group CPG Collective Agenda, University-Bachelor
