Vice President II, Cybersecurity Engineering - Security Tools

As Vice President II, Cybersecurity Engineering - Security Tools, you will lead the strategy, engineering, and continuous improvement of the platforms that protect LPL’s infrastructure, data, advisors, and employees. This is a high-impact people leadership opportunity for a cybersecurity tooling leader who can modernize capabilities, influence cross-functional partners, and translate security risk into clear business action. 

Job Overview: 

LPL’s Cybersecurity Engineering and Architecture organization is seeking a strategic, results-driven leader to oversee enterprise security tools platforms. This role leads a team of security engineers responsible for the design, implementation, integration, optimization, and ongoing evolution of cybersecurity tooling across on-premises and cloud-based environments. The leader will align security tools with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices while proactively addressing current and emerging threats. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the deployment, integration, optimization, and lifecycle management of cybersecurity tools, including SIEM platforms such as Splunk and Elasticsearch, XDR, EDR, email gateways, and vulnerability management platforms. 

  • Develop and execute a cybersecurity tooling strategy aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, risk priorities, and the broader information security roadmap. 

  • Automate threat detection, response, compliance reporting, and operational workflows using scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash. 

  • Manage and report endpoint security compliance metrics, tooling effectiveness, risks, and security posture to executive leadership and key stakeholders. 

  • Ensure alignment with cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS. 

  • Partner with IT Governance, infrastructure, DevOps, and application delivery teams to embed information security requirements into project delivery and system architecture. 

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives, budget planning, forecasting, and reporting for security tooling investments and operational priorities. 

  • Mentor and develop security engineering talent while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence. 

  • Create and maintain documentation, playbooks, runbooks, and operational guidelines for security tooling and related processes.

Requirements: 

  • 10 or more years of experience in cybersecurity operations, security engineering, or cybersecurity tools management. 

  • 5 or more years of leadership experience overseeing security engineering, security operations, or cybersecurity tooling teams. 

  • 5 or more years of engineering experience with email gateways, SIEM, EDR, XDR, vulnerability management, or related enterprise security platforms. 

  • 5 or more years of experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with planning, budgeting, forecasting, execution, and stakeholder management accountability. 

  • 5 or more years of experience automating security, compliance, or operational workflows using PowerShell, Python, Bash, shell scripting, or similar languages.

Preferences: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field. 

  • Professional security management certification such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent. 

  • Experience presenting technical security concepts, risk, metrics, and investment priorities to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Experience managing and mentoring high-performing engineering teams while fostering growth, collaboration, and accountability. 


 

Pay Range:

$159,650.00 - $266,049.00
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
