You will play a critical role in protecting yield and manufacturing stability by ensuring the quality and readiness of incoming silicon wafers. Your work will combine hands-on wafer characterization, data analysis, and supplier collaboration to reduce risk and support technology development and production. This role directly impacts material decisions, supplier performance, and continuous improvement across the wafer supply base.
Job Description
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform incoming wafer characterization, including defectivity, surface quality, and material performance assessments.
  • Analyze and interpret wafer data to support material decisions, yield protection, and manufacturing risk reduction.
  • Define and maintain wafer specifications, control plans, and inspection requirements aligned with manufacturing needs.
  • Support qualification of new wafer materials, suppliers, and advanced substrates for technology development and production.
  • Partner with wafer suppliers on incoming quality performance, technical reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Develop, track, and report incoming wafer quality metrics using statistical and analytical methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Supplier Quality, Procurement, Technology Development, and Manufacturing.
  • Drive improvements in laboratory processes, data quality, and wafer characterization capability.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience performing wafer characterization, inspection, or material performance evaluation.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret manufacturing or material data using statistical or analytical methods.
  • Experience identifying and resolving quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience defining material specifications, control plans, or inspection requirements.
  • Experience supporting qualification of new materials, suppliers, or substrates.
  • Experience partnering directly with suppliers on quality performance and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in manufacturing or technology development environments.
