The Wireless Systems Design Engineer provides technical support, engages in design and implementation projects, and collaborates with global sales and marketing teams. Responsibilities include creating designs, training staff, and attending customer workshops to enhance technical expertise.
As the Wireless Systems Design Engineer (DAS/LMR), you will be the trusted advisor and technical support professional for the Wesco Global Solutions business. The Global Technical Resource Center (GTRC) team uses their extensive experience to provide technical advice, guidance, and support to Solutions Support and Advanced Technology Support teams. The team actively works with and supports ATS engagements with global sales representatives and supports all large, complex, and global opportunities. The team also supports the Corporate Marketing, Supply Chain Solutions and Category Management groups as Subject Matter Experts.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise and engagement to support GTRC as part of a holistic team strategy allowing the TSS to scale, by supporting core tasks of a project.
- Provide deliverables of BOM’s, design (Visio/CAD, iBWave, JVSG) and written specifications as needed.
- Take part in advanced technical training and continued education. Achieve and maintain Industry recognized credentials relevant to their discipline, territory needs and customer requirements.
- Attend customer discovery workshops as required with Solution Architect(s) to gain customer facing experience, technical conversation & technical presentation skills.
- Engage all sales opportunities or support requests from any country or region.
- Support the Global Training Program in both a trainer and participant role. The individual will help sales identify and position Advisory & Professional Services.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree (U.S.)/College Diploma (Canada) or commensurate years of technical experience required
- Licenses/Certificates/Designations required
- Bachelor’s Degree - Technical or engineering discipline preferred
- 7+ years of experience in the technical field of expertise in design, implementation and/or commissioning
- 5 years required of design software expertise (Google Earth, iBwave-Level 3 certification, iBwave Reach, Eino, and Acrobat applications).
- Ability to operate various types of DAS test equipment including spectrum analyzer, CW testing, PIM, DAS trouble shooting, and other electrical and mechanical tools.
- Design certifications in Motorola LMR head end equipment MOTOTRBO IP Site Connect and Capacity Plus Theory of Operations and Design
- BICSI RCDD or Industry Equivalent
- Possess a customer-centric mindset
- Possess intermediate computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio or AutoCAD 2D
- Demonstrate strong technical knowledge in specialist field with fundamental presentation skills
- Ability to travel up to 25%
