How 5 Austin startups celebrated the holidays this year

Before heading home to our friends and loved ones for the holidays, many of our local tech teams shared in some winter fun, partying together with their work families and celebrating the end of a hard year's work.

Take a peek inside some of Austin's company parties celebrating a successful year and the joy of the season.

In addition to a company-wide party, Duo Security's people team also held a department party where they played games, enjoyed holiday cocktails and participated in a toy drive for Orchards Children's Services.

Spiceworks celebrated the holidays with “A Tacky Sweater Story," adding festive decorations that paid homage to "A Christmas Story" (including some nice renditions of the infamous leg lamp) and tacky holiday-themed sweaters.

The MVF team kicked off their holiday fiesta with an in-office happy hour that included cocktail delivery services with an in-house bartender. After the happy hour, the team enjoyed a private, four-course dinner at Hotel Ella, which featured holiday music, a mini awards ceremony that recognized each individual on the team and a toast from the VP of sales.

The Condé Nast team came together as a team for their first holiday gathering in Austin at Odd Duck. The dinner fed and entertained 27 employees from the growing team — including a few visitors from New York City and a white elephant gift exchange.

Renting out the exclusive club Pershing House on E. 5th Street, BlackLocus let loose this year by enjoying a five-course meal cooked by a private chef on an open hearth kitchen and cocktails made by two mixologists. They flew in their DJ from Denver — as they do each year for the holiday party — and had gift bags for every employee.
