About the Role

The Applications Specialist provides technical and commercial support to customers and the Field Sales team by reviewing customer specifications and requirements, selecting and pricing equipment, preparing quotations, and supporting the sales process through order closure.

This role combines technical product knowledge, customer service, motor application support, costing, and sales coordination. The Applications Specialist works closely with Field Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, customers, and other internal teams to develop solutions, prepare proposals, and ensure customer requirements are accurately communicated and supported.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review customer specifications and requirements to select and price appropriate equipment.
  • Prepare written and telephone quotations while working within company guidelines for pricing, delivery, terms and conditions, and product offerings.
  • Provide direct support to existing customers by identifying needs and helping resolve questions, problems, and complaints.
  • Work with Field Sales and internal resources to develop new customers within the assigned market.
  • Serve as an internal advocate and liaison between TECO-Westinghouse Field Sales and customers.
  • Coordinate the TECO-Westinghouse sales approach across the procurement process, including E/Cs, OEMs, distributors, and end users.
  • Conduct customer correspondence and participate in negotiations with customers and internal TECO-Westinghouse personnel.
  • Use engineering design programs to design induction motors to appropriate frame sizes and develop associated costing.
  • Work with Engineering on complex motor designs and Manufacturing Engineering on motor costing.
  • Prepare technical documentation required to transmit customer orders to Engineering.
  • Maintain accurate negotiation records, costs, and pricing information.
  • Negotiate motor inquiries, obtain and interpret customer orders, and develop proficiency in the order-entry process.
  • Contribute to monthly reports and other required reporting activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers regarding the selection, application, operation, and maintenance of TECO-Westinghouse products and services.
  • Assist with customer presentations and assemble complete technical and commercial proposal information in a timely manner.
  • Provide customers with appropriate marketing literature and product information.
  • Develop and maintain product knowledge across TECO-Westinghouse product offerings.
  • Implement established sales plans and strategies.
  • Provide feedback regarding competitive pricing strategies.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable antitrust laws and company policies.
  • Become familiar with customer business practices and procedures as they relate to assigned responsibilities.
  • Continuously increase technical competence and develop professionally toward potential Sales Representative responsibilities.
  • Comply with all company policies, including ISO 9001 Standards, Affirmative Action Plan, and Safety procedures.
  • Incorporate TECO-Westinghouse's Standards of Excellence — Pride, Desire, Teamwork, Attention to Detail, and Follow-through — into daily activities.
  • Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned.
Customer & Internal Collaboration

This position works closely with both internal and external stakeholders, including:

  • Field Sales Representatives
  • Internal Sales team members
  • Engineering
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Existing and prospective customers
  • E/Cs, OEMs, distributors, and end users

The role involves daily telephone and written communication with customers and daily interaction with Field Sales and internal sales team members.

The Applications Specialist may also coordinate and host customer visits to TECO-Westinghouse facilities to promote company personnel, products, and facility capabilities.

Occasional overnight travel may be required for customer visits.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or
  • 2–4 years of related experience and/or training in industrial products.
  • Computer knowledge is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
