POSITION SUMMARY


Huston-Tillotson University (HT), Austin's oldest institution of higher learning, seeks a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering to join our dedicated faculty. This is a unique opportunity to help build and shape a new, vibrant Mechanical Engineering program within the School of Business and Technology.


TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Teach a variety of undergraduate mechanical engineering courses, including core subjects like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, dynamics, and machine design.
  • Develop and implement new curricula, laboratory exercises, and innovative teaching methods that enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Conduct research in a relevant mechanical engineering field and actively involve undergraduate students in research project s.
  • Advise and mentor students, guiding them in their academic and professional development.
  • Participate in service activities for the department, university, and professional community.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with advancements in the field.

 

Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Masters in mechanical engineering will be considered.

 

  • Preferred:
    • Prior university-level teaching experience.
    • Professional experience in an engineering-related fi eld.
    • Experience with online and hybrid course delivery methods.

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • A strong research background with the potential to secure external funding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse back grounds.

SUPERVISION


  • This position reports to the Dean of the School of Business and Technology

SALARY RANGE


  • $70,000 - $80,000 annually, plus benefits!

  • Full-time; in-person.
