As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you'll consult with clients to develop strategic solutions using AWS, coordinate project timelines, and ensure engineering quality while advising on AWS optimization and best practices.
As a Solutions Architect, Cloud, you will work with Mission Cloud’s customers to develop strategic solutions leveraging the AWS portfolio. You will work with our Project Management and Cloud Engineering teams to provide Mission’s Professional Services to the accounts and projects to which you’re aligned. As a Cloud Solution Architect you’ll be the primary point of contact for your accounts.
Our Cloud Solution Architects are responsible for holding regular consulting sessions to build a roadmap for further optimization, automation, and resiliency while the hand-on engineers execute the road map items driving world class outcomes.
This position is 100% remote.
- Consult with multiple clients simultaneously to understand business and technical needs
- Be a trusted advisor to assigned clients; help align customer expectations with best practices
- Develop strategic roadmaps and project plans based on customer goals
- Work with clients and Project Managers to set expectations, drive alignment, and coordinate timelines
- Identify areas for cost savings through options such as autoscaling, right-sizing, and elimination of waste within the customer’s AWS environments
- Identify security gaps and develop best practice recommendations to help strengthen client security posture
- Document and present recommendations to customers, including senior leadership
- Translate customer requirements into LOE estimates, design documents and keep project tracking boards up to date
- Provide guidance to Cloud Engineers as they implement customer roadmaps
- Quality check engineering work; ensure top quality work and customer satisfaction
- Train customers in management and maintenance of new or upgraded environments
- Support Presales Cloud Solutions Architects in proposal design and positioning
- Document time spent on customer activities; record activities daily in Jira with weekly timecard submissions in Mavenlink
- Mentor Cloud Engineers
- Experience working in a customer-facing consulting role
- Experience developing project roadmaps, LOE estimates, and design documents
- Ability to lead customer facing projects, assigning work to teams, and quality checking engineering work
- Ability to translate technical requirements to a non-technical audience
- Ability to present solutions to customers, overcoming objectives, and creating consensus
- Ability to deploy AWS infrastructure using IAC tooling such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Ability to build CI pipelines and automation (build, test, performance)
- Ability to design and build containerization solutions (infrastructure, pipelines, automation) using docker (dockerfiles, ECS, ECS Fargate) or kubernetes (manifests, helm and deployment tooling, KOPS, EKS, EKS, or Fargate)
- Understanding of AWS security controls, network boundary controls and related toolsets
- Knowledge of AWS’s Well-Architected Framework
- Ability to work with one or more scripting languages
- Occasional off-hours support, depending on client's need
- AWS Professional-level Certification (required within 6 months of employment)

Placement within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and ability as evaluated during the interview process. The compensation range for the base salary of this role is: $120,000 - $155,000
