Board Certified Behavior Analyst Job Description & Expectations   

The primary function of the Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) is to plan,  develop, and monitor a variety of behavioral support service delivery options made to  meet the needs of clients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The BCBA  also consults speech, occupational therapy, and physical therapy departments. The  BCBA will consult with and teach an instructional team regarding pro-active,  educational programming, and behavioral supports. The BCBA will conduct intakes  and develop behavior and skill acquisition plans for each client, monitor  programming, update programs based on client progress and ensure Parent Training  sessions are scheduled. Each BCBA is responsible for maintaining his/her certification  and abiding by the ethical standards of the BACB. Here at Academy ABA we are committed to high clinical quality and care across all of our BCBAs. As part of this process our Clinical Leadership Team will provide regular oversight and support across all clinical expectations while monitoring performance via observation and data collection.  Mentorship will be provided on an ongoing basis by leadership.


Job Responsibilities

Board Certified Behavior Analyst Responsibilities 

  • Assess children using ABLLS, VB-MAPP, AFLS, Vineland and QABF, MAS, FAST  and Functional Behavior Assessment as needed. 
  • Ensure that medical record documentation protocols are uploaded to CentralReach.  Ensures that patients’ progress notes are entered into the medical records on a  timely basis and in accordance with established organizational procedures. 
  • Participate in education and training programs for patients, families, or  community groups. 
  • Responsible for choosing and implementing an appropriate assessment tool.  
  • A caseload of a minimum of 25 billable hours per week is to be maintained; with the understanding that this may change based on client or company need.
  • Complete RBT competency checks  
  • Conduct trainings and  team meetings with staff as needed 
  • Provide high quality mentorship and  supervision to Behavior Technicians, RBT’s, on your caseload. In addition to maintaining them as supervisees in your BACB portal 

Board Certified Behavior Analyst Job Description & Expectations 


  • Updating and maintaining appropriate programming for clients  
  • Doing 6-month progress reports, submit Plan of Care for review in advance per company policy and corresponding insurance calls when required by funding  source. 
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with ancillary providers. 
  • Respond to maladaptive behaviors as needed, BIPs are in place with information attached to the target behaviors on the client’s data sheet  and staff are  trained on how to implement them.  
  • Collect data on BT/RBT performance, give positive and constructive feedback. Report any ethical, professional and behavioral concerns when needed regarding an RBT or BT to the Clinical Director. 
  • Support BT and parent relationships as needed. 
  • Conduct Parent Training sessions in accordance with the POC to include data collection and ensure regular correspondence with parents. 
  • Supervise BCBA candidates as they work towards their exam. 

Job Requirements: 

  • Must be currently certified as a BCBA with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Individuals who have recently completed their Master's Degree and are  waiting to take the BACB exam will be considered on an individual basis. 
  • Maintain good standing with the BACB.
  • Maintain CEU requirements required by the BACB and complete annual recertification requirements in a timely manner to ensure there is no lapse in certification.
  • Training and clinical experience in providing applied behavior analysis to  children and families. Experience working with children with autism spectrum  disorders preferred. 
  • Analytical skills necessary in order to synthesize a variety of clinical and social  data to determine appropriate diagnosis, treatment plan and monitor  effectiveness of treatment programs. 
  • CentralReach experience is preferred but not required.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.  
  • Maintain a high level of organization for file maintenance, daily, weekly and  monthly record keeping. 
  • Receptive to feedback from supervisors and open to a collaborative working environment.
