The Community Strategy Intern will research and develop a digital community strategy focused on Reddit, analyze community dynamics, and document insights to inform marketing strategies.
At Brightspot®, we believe technology should enable content-focused teams to work smarter, faster, and more seamlessly to move businesses forward. Our world-class delivery team has decades of collective experience supporting digital transformation efforts for some of the world’s most well-known companies – from eCommerce brands and media organizations to corporate businesses. Brightspot prides itself on being a leading content management system built to grow and adapt to any business.
We’re looking for a Community Strategy Intern to help us research, develop, and test a digital community building strategy for our brand. Our Reddit presence will be a major focus, but it’s not the only place conversations happen, and part of this role is figuring out where else we should be showing up.
Reddit is a high-signal, community-driven platform where trust matters, and you’ll spend a lot of time researching how to participate the right way. You’ll also help us understand where other relevant conversations are happening, how people talk about problems we solve, and how (or if) a brand like ours should show up authentically in those digital spaces.
Reporting into Marketing and working closely with Product & Engineering, this role offers a great opportunity for someone interested in growth marketing, community building, internet culture and technical products.
Responsibilities
- Identify and map relevant online communities across Reddit and beyond (subreddits, forums, untapped social platforms, emerging channels) by audience, intent, and norms
- Lurk (yes, really), analyze, and summarize common themes, language, and pain points
- Track brand, competitor, and category mentions on key platforms
- Recommend where brand participation makes sense vs. where it doesn’t
- Develop platform- and community-specific participation guidelines (how to show up, what to avoid, when to stay silent)
- Help design low-risk experiments (AMA ideas, comment engagement, value-add posts)
- Monitor performance and community response to experiments
- Document learnings and best practices into repeatable playbooks
- Share insights that can inform content strategy, messaging, and product positioning
Qualifications
- Active Reddit user with a deep understanding of the social norms in that space
- Strong written communication skills and pattern recognition
- Comfortable observing before acting
- Ability to project manage and organize tasks across teams
- Organized enough to turn internet chaos into clear takeaways
- Interest in marketing, community management, or GTM strategy (bonus if B2B or SaaS curious)
Compensation & Benefits
- This is a part-time, hourly position requiring 15-20 hours per week, including one days per week on-site.
- The starting pay range for this position is $15 per hour.
- This is a short-term internship running from February through May.
- Part-time employees at Brightspot enjoy access to select benefits, including an in-office coffee bar and catered lunches, opportunities to participate in our mission programs, and more.”
Hybrid Expectations
- This is a hybrid position. Candidates are expected to work on-site at our Reston or Austin office one day per week.
At Brightspot®, we value diversity and strive to create an inclusive environment where all employees can thrive. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences.
