About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

Base is looking for a Controller to own our accounting function end to end. This is a dynamic controllership seat in a high growth environment. Base is vertically integrated across multiple subsidiary entities in manufacturing, energy project development, residential energy, and infrastructure asset ownership. You’ll manage compliance and financial reporting across the entire business, shepherd the company through its first audit, evolve the org structure through additional business growth and complexity, and lead our accounting team of 5+.

This role reports to the Head of Finance. If you want to build the finance backbone of a company that's raised over $1 billion and is scaling fast, this is it.

What You’ll Do

  • Own financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls across the business.

  • Lead external audit and tax compliance processes.

  • Lead intercompany accounting across Base’s various entities, including project accounting for Base’s distributed energy projects and their associated production finance, cost accounting, financial allocation and burdening, and asset management implications.

  • Build out accounting policies and operations to support factory build-outs, new market launches, new product launches, and other new business activities that Base enters

  • Own treasury functions & operations: cash positioning, fund flows, etc.

  • Drive our ERP evolution and own the accounting tech stack in deep partnership with Base’s in-house software team.

  • Partner with finance team on reporting to support capital markets, investor relations, and managerial decisions.

What You'll Bring

  • CPA required.

  • Strong GAAP knowledge and experience with multi-entity accounting.

  • Track record managing month-end close in a complex environment.

  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to an ERP implementation (NetSuite preferred).

  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team.

  • Clear communicator who can operate in an engineering-led, fast-moving culture.

  • High ownership and exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in energy, manufacturing, project finance, or regulated industries.

  • Familiarity with tax equity structures (Section 48E, 45X) and/or project finance accounting.

  • Prior experience at a high-growth company.

  • Big 4 or public accounting background.

About this Team

The Finance team at Base is responsible for capitalizing and scaling our ambitious energy technology platform business. We own capital markets (equity, tax equity, debt), strategic and operational finance (FP&A, broader analytics, supply/demand planning), accounting, and treasury. You’ll work alongside a humble and high-ownership team in a low-bureaucracy environment, and your work will directly enable the trajectory of the business.

Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
