About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

We're looking for a Design Intern to join our Creative team this spring/next summer and work across some of Base's fastest-moving channels: paid ads, brand campaigns, and the visual systems that hold it all together. You'll work alongside our designers and marketing team to produce creative that stops people mid-scroll, build scalable template systems in Figma, and help us learn what resonates with homeowners across the country.

This isn't a "shadow someone and take notes" internship. You'll own real output from week one — designing work that ships to the market, building tools your teammates actually use, and shaping how Base shows up wherever people see us. If you're excited about the intersection of brand, performance, and craft, this is the role.

What You'll Do
  • Design creative on a weekly cadence across paid, brand, and campaign work, working within Base's brand system while pushing the work forward visually.

  • Build and maintain reusable Figma template systems that both the design and marketing teams can use to quickly spin up new variations without starting from scratch.

  • Conduct competitive research — studying what other brands (in energy, DTC, home services, and beyond) are running across channels — and bring back ideas worth testing.

  • Organize and build a library of our top-performing creative so the marketing team has a go-to resource for proven templates and formats.

  • Collaborate with designers and marketers to iterate on concepts based on performance data and creative instinct.

What You'll Bring
  • Strong visual design fundamentals — typography, color, layout, hierarchy — with a portfolio that shows range and taste.

  • Working proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, and an understanding of how to build templates others can use without breaking.

  • Genuine curiosity about what makes design work — you pay attention to the creative around you and have opinions about it.

  • Ability to move quickly and manage your own time across multiple deliverables without losing quality.

  • Comfort giving and receiving direct feedback — our team iterates fast and ego slows things down.

About the Team

The Creative team owns how Base looks, sounds, and feels. Brand campaigns, paid ads, photography, illustration, all of it. We’re five people who like each other a lot and take the work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. The work is real — we’re building a consumer brand in an industry that’s never had one — and it ships fast. You’ll learn a ton, make things people actually see, and have FUN. Come build with us.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values
  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.
