Company Overview
ACS (Allen Control Systems) is a defense technology company building precision robotic systems for the United States and its allies. Founded by two former U.S. Navy electrical engineers with deep experience in robotics and software, ACS brings together AI, computer vision, precision motion, and advanced hardware to solve complex defense challenges across land, air, and maritime environments.

Our flagship product, Bullfrog, is an autonomous precision weapon system that transforms existing weapons into highly accurate counter-drone systems — giving warfighters a scalable, cost-effective response to one of the fastest-growing threats on the modern battlefield. Bullfrog is deployed with U.S. forces, and ACS works with organizations throughout the U.S. military and national security community.

Following a $200 million Series B at a $2.2 billion valuation, ACS is rapidly expanding manufacturing, accelerating Bullfrog deployments, and developing the next generation of autonomous battlefield systems. This is an opportunity to join a proven, fast-moving team and help scale technology with direct, real-world impact on national security.

ACS is headquartered in Austin, Texas, with additional operations in Alexandria, Virginia; Mountain View, California; and Huntsville, Alabama. For more information, visit allencontrolsystems.com.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to own the infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and production systems that support a fast-moving defense engineering organization. This engineer will be responsible for the architecture and reliability of our AWS environment and Kubernetes clusters, the infrastructure-as-code that provisions them, and the access controls and secrets management that keep them secure. Working closely with engineering, this individual will build infrastructure that scales with the company while meeting the demands of a security-sensitive, compliance-driven environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning production systems end to end, thinks in infrastructure-as-code, and has the judgment to balance velocity with security and reliability.

What You’ll Do:

● Architect, deploy, and manage production workloads on AWS, including core services such as VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.

● Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes clusters, including workload scheduling, networking (CNI), and cluster upgrades.

● Author and maintain Terraform modules to provision and manage multi-environment infrastructure-as-code.

● Own core networking fundamentals across the environment: DNS, TLS/PKI, routing, load balancing, and service mesh.

● Implement least-privilege access controls and secrets management using tools such as Vault or AWS Secrets Manager.

● Own production systems at scale, including reliability, performance, and incident response.

● Partner with engineering to build deployment pipelines and infrastructure that support rapid, secure delivery.

What You’ll Need:

● Experience: 7+ years of professional DevOps/Infrastructure Engineering experience, including ownership of production systems at scale.

● AWS: Demonstrated hands-on expertise architecting, deploying, and managing production workloads on AWS (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, or equivalent core services).

● Kubernetes: Production experience designing, deploying, and operating Kubernetes clusters, including workload scheduling, networking (CNI), and cluster upgrades.

● Terraform: Advanced experience authoring and maintaining Terraform modules for multi-environment infrastructure-as-code.

● Deep understanding of networking fundamentals: DNS, TLS/PKI, routing, load balancing, and service mesh concepts.

● Demonstrated experience implementing least-privilege access controls and secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or equivalent).

You’ll Stand Out:

● AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer Professional, or Security Specialty).

● Experience supporting DoD, defense, or other export-controlled/regulated environments (ITAR, CMMC, FedRAMP, or similar).

● Familiarity with GCC High or other government cloud environments.

● Kubernetes certification (CKA or CKAD).

● Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack).

● Experience with monitoring/observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).

What We Offer:

● Competitive salary

● ACS Equity Package

● Health, Dental, Vision Insurance

● Paid Time Off
