Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking a Director of Hardware Engineering Operations reporting to the VP of Engineering. The successful individual in this role will lead the hardware engineering operations including support for design and manufacturing, new product introduction, configuration management, quality and compliances as well as engineering process continuous improvement.

This position is eligible for 100% remote work depending on location. Travel to Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in West Los Angeles and other offices are required as needed.

The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion. 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead special projects assignments: e.g. NDAA, Agile PLM, W18, etc.
  • Lead ERP implementation and transition and configuration management.
  • Lead engineering process improvement.
  • Lead product regulatory compliance & certifications: Align project scope, goals and schedule to business needs; interfacing with legal and supervising compliance engineers.
  • Drive product design quality process: Drive product development quality process & alignment with stakeholder expectations for release / shipment.
  • Lead new product introduction: Work with the design team, Supply Chain, and Quality to define and transition new designs into productions.
  • Lead product lifecycle management: Drive revenue sustainability process (e.g. Excess & Obsolescence, Part Shortage mitigation, Dual sourcing).
  • Build and lead a team of other operational support roles that may include technicians, component engineers, administrative staff, etc.
  • Travel Requirement – travel to Silvus headquarters as well as other offices as needed.
  • Perform other relevant duties of which the above are representative.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant hardware engineering design and program management experience.
  • Experience managing a team of engineers, technicians, and / or other administrative staff.  
  • Extensive experience with product regulatory compliance including FCC and EU CE Mark.
  • Demonstrated experience with hardware design and production configuration management.
  • Thorough understanding of product life cycle management and managing supply chain risk.
  • Hands-on experience in the use of Oracle Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software
  • Proven experience with digital electronics system and RF system design.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with wireless communication systems design and productization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience managing hardware product design projects from concept to production.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional design teams including RF, digital, FPGA, and software.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Office environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:
    • Lift equipment up to 20 lbs. for the set-up of demonstrations and testing.
    • Kneeling or squatting to access lower shelves.
    • Walking/Moving in the labs.

COMPENSATION: $190,000 - $220,000 / annually

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

NOTE - As a US Federal Contractor, Silvus Technologies requires that ALL candidates being considered for employment for any position (regardless of level) MUST be a U.S. Person (permanent resident or citizen).  Stricter U.S. Citizen ONLY requirements (needed for some Engineering or R&D roles) will be included in the Required Qualifications section of the posted position.
