The Executive Assistant to the President & CEO serves as a trusted confidant, strategic partner, and operational powerhouse who ensures the President moves with precision, speed, and excellence. This individual operates at the intersection of strategy, communication, and execution, helping to drive the vision of a nationally recognized, forward-thinking HBCU.

About the President You’ll Support

You will be supporting a leader who operates at an elite level.

A national advocate for HBCUs, renowned speaker, and solutionist, President Wallace has the detailed eye Miranda Priestly and the quick, sharp wit of Janelle James with her own unmistakable leadership style.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Confidential Command Center

  • Serve as a highly trusted, discreet advisor, managing sensitive information with absolute confidentiality
  • Act as an extension of the President in written communication—drafting, editing, and responding to emails with clarity, tone, authority, and kindness

Master of Motion & Momentum

  • Own and optimize the President’s calendar with precision and assertiveness—you are the guardian of her time
  • Ensure seamless transitions between meetings (including moving quickly across campus and up/down stairs as well as off campus)
  • Proactively identify scheduling conflicts and solve them before they become problems

AI-Enabled Efficiency Expert

  • Leverage modern AI tools (ChatGPT, automation platforms, workflow systems) to increase productivity and reduce friction
  • Continuously identify smarter, faster ways to operate
  • Create dashboards to ensure deliverables are on track and end up on time

Executive Voice & Presence

  • Communicate on behalf of the President with kindness, confidence, polish, and professionalism
  • Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and manage follow-ups that ensure the President is always 10 steps ahead

Meeting Architect & Experience Curator

  • Design and manage high-level meetings that are organized, efficient, and impactful
  • Create visually compelling Canva presentations that bring ideas to life
  • Host and facilitate meetings when needed—keeping discussions focused, productive, and on time
  • Someone who knows how to serve as an exceptional host to guests who visit the President and who are in presence of the President.

Strategic Travel Coordinator

  • Coordinate and occasionally accompany the President on travel
  • Manage logistics with excellence, ensuring every trip is seamless and purposeful
  • Understands travel well enough to schedule multiple consecutive trips

Problem Solver-in-Chief

  • Anticipate challenges and resolve issues quickly, calmly, and creatively
  • Serve as the “fixer” who ensures nothing falls through the cracks

Operations & Project Management

  • Track key initiatives, deadlines, and priorities across the President’s portfolio
  • Ensure accountability across teams—following up and driving results
  • Support board relations, executive leadership coordination, and special projects
  • Keen eye on being able to prioritize the demands of the President's time.
Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Five (5) years of executive support experience, including supporting C-level executives

SUPERVISION

SALARY RANGE

  • $60,000 annually, plus benefits

The University is an independent, liberal arts, church-related, historically black institution located on a 23-acre tree-lined campus near downtown Austin, Texas. The University is affiliated with United Methodist Church, the United Church of Christ, and the United Negro College Fund. Undergraduate, four-year degrees in business, education, the humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences are awarded.
