American Operator is hiring 5 summer interns for our Forward Deployed AI Lead program. Exceptional performers may receive offers to join full-time.
This role blends management consulting and AI engineering. You will embed within our portfolio companies to identify high-impact opportunities and design, build, and deploy AI solutions that grow revenue, automate back-office functions, and improve margins. The internship will be based out of our headquarters in Austin, TX.
RESPONSIBILITIESWork directly with acquired businesses to understand operations, identify high-impact problems, and deliver AI-enabled solutions.
Own the full solution lifecycle: discovery, scoping, prototyping, deployment, and iteration.
Partner with operators and staff to map processes, define success metrics, and drive adoption.
Participate in daily standups and weekly demos with company leadership
Collaborate cross-functionally with investments, engineering, and portfolio operations teams.
Must be currently enrolled as sophomores or juniors in an accredited undergraduate program studying Computer Science or Business.
Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript or Python.
Experience building and deploying applications using Claude Code.
Strong communication skills and executive presence.
Working knowledge of financial statements (income statement, COGS, etc.).
Willingness to travel up to 50%.
