What you'll be doing:

As a Global Resolution Engineer (GRE) – Networking SME at WEKA, you will serve as a top-tier technical escalation resource with deep specialization in networking for high-performance computing (HPC), AI/ML, and enterprise environments. You will be embedded in the GRE team and work cross-functionally with Customer Success, Engineering, and Product to resolve critical customer issues, influence product networking design, and improve global support readiness.

You will combine your expertise in modern networking technologies (Ethernet, Infiniband, RDMA, DPDK, UCX) with an understanding of WEKA’s unique networking stack and deployment architectures, helping customers achieve maximum performance, stability, and scalability in demanding environments.

As a GRE - Networking SME you'll:

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex customer issues related to networking, fabric design, connectivity, and performance in WEKA deployments.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1–4 networking problems in high-throughput, low-latency environments, including AI/ML pipelines and HPC clusters.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success Engineers to mentor, review case strategy, and elevate overall team networking competence.
  • Engage in proactive problem prevention by analyzing field data to identify emerging patterns, bottlenecks, or systemic flaws in network configurations.
  • Maintain and evolve WEKA’s Known Issues Database, Technical Advisories (WTAs), and Knowledge Base (KB) with network-centric content.
  • Partner with the Development team to provide detailed root cause analyses and influence future product capabilities and diagnostics tools.
  • Conduct deep-dive training sessions on advanced networking topics for internal support teams and key customers.
Participate in technical design reviews, both internally and with customer architecture teams, to ensure networking best practices are followed.
  • Continuously improve WEKA’s internal tooling for packet capture, latency analysis, flow visualization, and path validation.
  • Represent GRE in cross-functional architecture reviews involving customers, field engineers, and partners, with a focus on networking readiness and scalability.
  • Support global 24/7 operations through on-call participation and high-severity incident resolution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience accepted.
  • 15+ years in advanced technical support, network engineering, or network architecture roles in enterprise, cloud, or HPC environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a technical lead in multi-team escalations and customer-critical situations.
  • Experience working with or supporting cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid deployments is preferred.
  • English fluency required; additional languages a plus.
  • Flexibility to support global operations, including on-call rotation and occasional travel.

Additional required skills:

  • Subject matter expertise in modern data center networking, including Ethernet (10/25/40/100/400G), Infiniband (HDR/NDR), RDMA (RoCE), DPDK, and UCX.
  • Extensive experience with multi-vendor enterprise switching and routing platforms (Arista, NVIDIA/Mellanox, Cisco, Juniper).
Deep understanding of TCP/IP, LACP, ECMP, jumbo frames, MTU tuning, congestion control, and QoS in storage and compute networks.
  • Hands-on experience with network telemetry tools, performance tuning, and link-level diagnostics (ethtool, iperf, perfquery, ifconfig, fabric utilities).
  • Advanced Linux systems administration with emphasis on network stack debugging and tuning (sysctl, iptables/nftables, routing tables).
  • Proven ability to resolve complex technical issues in distributed systems, particularly in storage-heavy, compute-intensive workloads.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical detail clearly and concisely.
  • Familiarity with WEKA’s architecture and networking requirements is a strong plus.
  • Ability to lead architectural discussions on datacenter fabrics for scale-out systems (AI training clusters, hybrid cloud architectures, etc.).
  • Strong documentation skills; able to produce clear internal guides and customer-facing technical content.
Bonus: Experience with Kubernetes networking (CNI plugins, pod networking), Terraform, Ansible, or scripting in Python/Bash for automation.
