In-House Appearance Counsel – Texas

Century Law Firm, PLLC

Location: Texas – Remote Hearings When Available | In-Person Court Appearances as Required

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $114,000–$126,000 annually

About the Opportunity

Century Law Firm is seeking an experienced, reliable, and motivated Texas-licensed attorney to join our growing legal team as In-House Appearance Counsel.

This is a unique opportunity for an attorney who enjoys courtroom advocacy and wants to focus primarily on representing clients at hearings without the traditional responsibilities of drafting pleadings, filing motions, or managing an entire caseload.

One of the key advantages of this position is the flexibility to attend hearings remotely whenever permitted by the court. For hearings that require an in-person appearance, the attorney will be responsible for traveling to and attending the assigned court location throughout Texas.

Our dedicated litigation and administrative teams handle routine drafting, filing, scheduling, and case management, allowing you to focus on what you do best: advocating for clients in court.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent clients at assigned court hearings, conferences, and proceedings throughout Texas.
  • Attend hearings remotely whenever permitted by the court and appear in person when required.
  • Serve as co-counsel on assigned Texas cases.
  • Review relevant case materials and prepare thoroughly for scheduled appearances.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients and handle hearing-related discussions within authorized parameters.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Firm's litigation and scheduling teams.
  • Submit accurate and timely hearing reports documenting rulings, deadlines, and necessary follow-up.
  • If unable to attend a scheduled hearing, promptly coordinate with the Firm and request a continuance from the court in accordance with applicable court procedures.
  • Follow up on continuance requests and immediately notify the Firm if a request is denied or remains pending so appropriate arrangements can be made.
  • Maintain compliance with Texas court rules, professional standards, and ethical obligations.

What Makes This Position Different?

Unlike traditional litigation attorney positions, this role is designed to allow you to focus primarily on courtroom representation.

You will not be routinely responsible for:

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, or legal briefs.
  • Filing or serving court documents.
  • Managing an entire caseload from beginning to end.
  • Routine administrative case management.
  • Independently hiring replacement counsel.

Our established legal and administrative teams handle these responsibilities, allowing you to concentrate on hearing preparation, court appearances, and effective client advocacy.

Qualifications

  • Active Texas law license in good standing.
  • Experience handling court appearances and litigation proceedings.
  • Strong oral advocacy, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a larger legal team.
  • Dependability, professionalism, and responsiveness regarding hearing assignments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to courts throughout Texas when in-person appearances are required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to client representation.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive monthly salary of $9,500–$10,500 ($114,000–$126,000 annually).
  • Full-time, salaried employment.
  • Opportunity to attend hearings remotely whenever permitted by the court.
  • Eligibility for applicable Firm-sponsored employee benefits.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage for authorized Firm work, subject to policy terms.
  • Dedicated litigation and administrative support.
  • An appearance-focused role without routine drafting, filing, or full caseload management responsibilities.

Travel Expectations: In-person court appearances throughout Texas will be required when remote attendance is unavailable or not permitted. The attorney is responsible for associated travel expenses, subject to any reimbursement required by applicable law.
