As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank technology team in Tampa, you will play a key role in designing, building, and delivering high-performance, full-stack applications that support critical banking operations and client-facing platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize systems, integrate AI-powered capabilities, and ensure the reliability and scalability of mission-critical services. Your contributions will directly impact how the firm processes transactions, manages risk, and delivers value to clients across global markets.
Job responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, full-stack applications using Java and React, ensuring high performance and maintainability across front-end and back-end layers
- Build and maintain event-driven microservices and data streaming pipelines using Apache Kafka to support real-time processing at enterprise scale
- Integrate AI Copilot and generative AI tooling into existing workflows to enhance developer productivity and deliver intelligent user experiences
- Develop and optimize data access layers and queries across Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring data integrity and performance
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust, production-ready software solutions
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and contribute to engineering best practices and standards
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, system vulnerabilities, and technical debt across the application stack
- Support deployment pipelines and contribute to continuous integration and delivery practices in an agile environment
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Proficiency in Java for back-end development, including RESTful API design and microservices architecture
- Hands-on experience with React for building responsive, component-based front-end applications
- Working knowledge of Apache Kafka for event-driven architecture and real-time data streaming
- Experience with relational databases, including Oracle and/or PostgreSQL, including query optimization and schema design
- Demonstrated ability to work in agile, cross-functional teams and deliver software iteratively
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to debug and resolve complex technical issues across the full stack
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience integrating AI Copilot tools or generative AI capabilities into software development workflows
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices including automated testing and infrastructure as code
- Knowledge of financial services domain, including trading, payments, or risk management systems
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools to support production system health and performance
