As an Data Migration Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring customers successfully transition their data into Commerce7. You will be responsible for analyzing, preparing, and migrating customer data while maintaining a high standard of accuracy, quality, and timeliness.

This role requires a strong combination of technical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. You will work directly with customer data to identify issues, apply appropriate data cleanup and preparation techniques, and execute migrations that help customers get the most value from their historical data. Throughout the process, you will communicate migration results, answer customer questions, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure successful onboarding outcomes.

This role typically starts between 8:00am and 9:00am PST, with flexibility to accommodate customers across different time zones.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the successful execution of customer data migrations, ensuring projects are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Analyze customer datasets to identify inconsistencies, quality issues, and migration risks, determining appropriate remediation strategies to maximize migration success.
  • Apply appropriate data cleanup and preparation techniques to maximize the amount of customer data successfully migrated into Commerce7 while preserving data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop, modify, maintain, and execute migration scripts and tooling to support accurate and efficient customer data migrations.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success, Support, Product, and Engineering teams to resolve migration challenges and support successful onboarding outcomes.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Commerce7 APIs and related tools to support accurate and efficient data migrations.
  • Perform detailed data validation and quality assurance checks to ensure migrated data is accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Clearly communicate migration outcomes, identified issues, and next steps to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Respond to customer questions and provide clarity around migration results and data-related decisions.
  • Manage multiple migration projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.
  • Identify and drive improvements to migration processes, tools, documentation, and best practices to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Lead and execute complex migration projects involving large datasets, data quality challenges, or non-standard migration requirements.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of scripting concepts and programming fundamentals, with exposure to JavaScript/Node.js preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions when working with incomplete or inconsistent data.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain migration results and issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with teammates.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new technologies and tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of scripting concepts and programming fundamentals, with experience or exposure to JavaScript/Node.js preferred. This role requires the ability to work with, modify, troubleshoot, and create migration scripts, but is not a software engineering position.
  • Experience working with technical tools or scripts to automate tasks, manipulate data, or improve workflow efficiency.
  • Familiarity with APIs and how systems exchange data.
  • Experience working with structured data and performing data analysis or data quality reviews.
  • Understanding of data privacy, security best practices, and responsible handling of sensitive customer information.
  • Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL concepts, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams.
  • 2+ years of experience in data migration, implementation, data operations, customer onboarding, technical support, or a related technical role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with NodeJS, APIs, and writing scripts
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming; especially with regards to JavaScript.
  • Experience working with both REST and GraphQL.
  • Ability to write SQL queries for data analysis, troubleshooting, and validation.

Salary range:

$74,000 - $93,250 USD

$83,000 - $101,000 CAD
