Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Business Credit Specialist to join the Auto Originations Strategy & Analytics team. This role will independently drive strategies that optimize income and identity verification requirements, balancing fraud risk mitigation with a seamless dealer and customer experience. Leveraging advanced analytics, the Lead Business Credit Specialist will identify fraud and income verification trends across the auto lending portfolio, develop data-driven recommendations, and partner closely with Auto Lending, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Product, Technology, and Operations teams to transform insights into actionable strategies that enhance operational performance, strengthen controls, and support audit and governance initiatives.
In this role, you will:
  • Advise line of business and companywide functions on business strategies based on research of performance metrics, trends in population distributions, and other complex data analysis to maximize profits and asset growth, and minimize losses within credit risk and other operating standards
  • Provide influence and leadership in the identification of new tools and methods to analyze data
  • Ensure adherence to compliance and legal regulations and policies on all projects managed
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level to senior managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor to staff, interns and external contractors
  • Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive advantage for Wells Fargo
  • Develop, test, analyze and implement strategies to achieve the financial objective relevant to macro-economic conditions
  • Work closely with cross functional teams (Tech, Product, Risk, Operations) to drive impact on a given product, problem, or initiative
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Business Credit experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Advanced analytical experience in fraud, credit risk, or lending strategy
  • Advanced proficiency in SAS, SQL, and Python, along with ability to monitor data and metrics
  • Experience within auto finance, consumer lending, or financial services
  • Proven ability to partner across cross-functional teams
  • Experience within credit risk and/or fraud analytics teams, with a strong understanding of operations analytics, strategy development, portfolio performance, and data-driven decision making in a financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for driving initiatives from concept through execution.
