About the job

Commerce is looking for a Legal Analyst to join our Legal team at our Austin, Texas headquarters. This is a high-impact role at the center of the Legal function – partnering closely with attorneys and cross-functional teams to keep work moving quickly and accurately – the in-house equivalent of a law firm paralegal.

You’ll support commercial contracting, litigation/dispute support, and Legal team initiatives, owning matters end-to-end from intake through execution. Project management is essential: you’ll coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder projects where organization and clear communication drive outcomes. You’ll also rely heavily on AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) to accelerate work product and build scalable processes.

What You’ll Do

Commercial Contracts

  • Triage and manage intake for legal review requests; gather context, clarify business needs, and route work appropriately.

  • Perform initial contract reviews against internal thresholds and criteria; flag risks and missing terms; propose practical options for resolution.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate routine agreements, including NDAs and other standard commercial documents (e.g., customer, partner, and procurement agreements), with attorney support as needed.

  • Assist attorneys with preparation, review, and negotiation of more complex legal documents and redlines.

  • Support redlining workflows by preparing markups, tracking open points, and coordinating responses between Legal and business stakeholders.

  • Ensure contracts are complete and accurate (signatures, exhibits, required information) and shepherd agreements through execution.

Project Management

  • Lead and manage large, multi-workstream legal projects involving multiple attorneys, cross-functional teams, and external parties

  • Build and maintain project plans, track milestones, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks

  • Serve as a central communications hub — keeping stakeholders informed, deadlines on track, and decisions documented

  • Identify bottlenecks and proactively problem-solve to keep projects moving forward

Legal Operations

  • Develop and maintain repositories of legal responses, templates, playbooks, and other legal resources for use across the organization

  • Assist with building and refining best practices and automation across various contract and legal workflows

  • Monitor and maintain data quality within the contract management system

  • Manage contracting process by tracking authorizations and correspondence

  • Draft routine legal correspondence, internal communications, and other legal documents as needed

Litigation & Legal Research

  • Assist attorneys with litigation-related tasks including document management, discovery support, and coordination with outside counsel

  • Conduct research and prepare analyses to help attorneys and internal stakeholders make informed decisions

  • Investigate escalated legal requests, analyze risk vs. benefit, anticipate areas of conflict, and present findings and recommendations with proposed solutions

AI & Technology

  • Leverage AI platforms — including Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and others — to create work product, streamline research, and build scalable processes

  • Stay current on emerging legal tech tools and identify opportunities to integrate them into team workflows

Who You Are

Must-haves

  • Strong project management ability: you can plan work, drive timelines, track dependencies, and communicate clearly with many stakeholders.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you can translate complex issues into clear next steps and status updates.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; you can manage competing priorities and still deliver accurate work.

  • Sound judgment and discretion handling sensitive/confidential information.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, taking ownership, and seeing projects through to completion.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience

  • Typically 1–4+ years in a paralegal, legal analyst, legal operations, contracts support, or similar role (law firm or in-house).

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with contract tooling and e-signature platforms is a plus (e.g., Salesforce, IronClad, DocuSign, etc.).

  • Comfort learning new systems and improving how the team uses them.

(Pay Transparency Range: $60,218 - $90,328)

The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s location, relevant knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
