Job Description:

The Role:

SiFive is looking to hire a hands-on System Software expert to lead the development of SiFive BSPs. In this role, you will be a part of the team that develops Linux and Bare Metal distributions for SiFive Platforms. Working with the internal team and external partners, you will be responsible for the development and support of the BSP distributions for SiFive internal platforms and development boards. 

This is an excellent opportunity to develop and get to market the software for the latest SiFive technologies spanning embedded, consumer, automotive, AI and data center compute.

Responsibilities:

• Create the roadmap, develop and support the BSPs (primarily Yocto based) for SiFive’s internal platforms and development boards.

• Partner with internal and external collaborators, to own the planning and execution of the software for SiFive development boards.

• Inculcate and follow the best Open Source software practices for a fully Open Source BSP model.

Requirements:

• 8+ years or experience developing System Software (boot loaders, Linux kernel, Linux distributions – Yocto, Ubuntu, etc)

• Expert level knowledge of Yocto with demonstrated ability to guide, mentor and inculcate the best practices for Yocto development in the organization.

• Direct hands-on open source software contributions for OE and Yocto required.

• Strong knowledge of build and integration systems.

• Experience with modern desktop and server ecosystems, including PCIe, Device Tree, ACPI, and UEFI.

• Experience with hardware bring-up, peripheral drivers, debugging, and validation on specific CPU architectures.

• Strong project leadership skills, including the ability to develop roadmaps, work breakdowns and estimates, and execute with distributed teams.

Pay & Benefits

We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location.  Please note that the base pay range is a guideline, and our compensation range reflects the cost of labor in the U.S. geographic market based on the location of the role. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant work experience. 

For candidates who receive and offer, the starting salary will vary based on various factors including, but not limited to, such qualifications as, skill level, competencies, and work location.  The range provided may represent a candidate range and may not reflect the full range for an individual tenured employee.

Base Pay Range

In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for variable/ incentive compensation and/ or equity.  In addition, this role is eligible for a comprehensive, competitive benefits package which may include healthcare and retirement plans, paid time off, and more!
