How This Role Makes a Difference

The Manager, IT Systems Engineering provides leadership for secure, reliable, and scalable technology operations supporting clinical research sites and remote work environments. This role is responsible for enterprise networking, cloud and endpoint services, service delivery, technology projects, operational automation, and the development of a high-performing technical team that enables business growth and operational excellence. 

How You'll Make An Impact
  • Network Management 
    • Design, implement, and manage switching, wireless, firewalls, SD-WAN, VPN, and LAN/WAN connectivity, including monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and new-site deployments. 
    • Ensure high availability and performance of network infrastructure through effective segmentation, monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, operational documentation, and business continuity planning. 
    • Manage network technology vendors, contracts, licensing, budgets, hardware lifecycle planning, and operational performance metrics to support cost-effective and reliable service delivery. 
  • IT Enterprise Solutions Management 
    • Manage and continuously improve core IT enterprise solutions, such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive services 
    • Lead device provisioning and lifecycle management using Microsoft Intune and JAMF for corporate, remote, and clinical users. 
    • Identify, design, implement, and govern automation solutions that leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and related technologies to streamline IT operations, improve service delivery, reduce manual effort, enhance decision-making, and increase operational scalability. 
    • Ensure enterprise AI solutions, such as ChatGPT and CoPilot, are effectively and properly deployed and well adapted across the organization 
  • Project Management 
    • Serve as a Technical Lead for infrastructure, network, cloud solution, clinical-site expansion, and technology refresh initiatives from planning and implementation through operational handoff. 
    • Develop IT project scope, schedules, budgets, risk-management plans, communications, capacity management, and status reporting; coordinate cross-functional teams and vendors to deliver projects effectively. 
  • People Manager & Leadership Responsibilities 
    • Recruit, coach, develop, and retain IT professionals while establishing clear goals, service expectations, accountability, and performance standards. 
    • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused culture that communicates effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. 
  • Data Security & Compliance 
    • Operate IT services in accordance with organizational security policies, contractual obligations, applicable regulatory requirements, and established risk-management practices. 
    • Partner with Information Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Legal teams on audits, access reviews, vulnerability remediation, investigations, and the protection of sensitive and regulated information. 
  • Other tasks as assigned
The Expertise Required 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting geographically distributed environments and managing enterprise networks, Microsoft cloud services, endpoint platforms, and complex technology initiatives. 
  • Strong communication, vendor management, budgeting, prioritization, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills. 
  • Experience implementing AI-enabled automation and workflows with appropriate security, data-governance, reliability, and business-value considerations. 
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with Cisco Meraki, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, Active Directory, ITSM platforms, scripting, workflow automation, and AI-enabled operations tools. Relevant ITIL, PMP, Microsoft, Cisco/Meraki, or CompTIA Security+ certifications are preferred. 
Certifications/Licenses, Education, and Experience
  • Minimum Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. 
  • Minimum Experience:
    • Seven or more years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, networking, operations, or service delivery, including at least three years of experience leading technical teams. 
    • Five or more years of experience in an IT management or technical leadership role. 
How We Work Together
  • Location: Remote within the United States. This role requires 100% of work to be performed in a remote office environment.
  • Travel: This role requires minimal national travel. Travel duration will vary based on business needs and clinical-site installations. 
  • Physical demands associated with this position Include: The ability to use keyboards and other computer equipment. Walking, Standing, Sitting, Lifting (up to 25 lbs), and Driving

The expected pay range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000 USD per year for full time team members.
