The Marketing Communications Coordinator will support the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). This role is responsible for managing consistent branding and messaging across all internal and external communications channels. The coordinator works closely with agency leadership, staff, and vendors to identify news-worthy content, produce external materials such as newsletters and press packets, and coordinate distribution across web and social media platforms. The role also develops and evaluates communications strategies that are consistent with the organization's strategic goals, using market research and performance metrics to guide decisions. This position requires familiarity with EIR Accessibility requirements and ensures accessibility considerations are incorporated throughout each project's lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the agency's brand through cooperative relationships with internal staff, external vendors, and the news media.
  • Coordinate with agency leadership and staff to gather information on news-worthy events and activities for publication on the website and social media.
  • Ensure consistency of the organization's message and brand identity across all communication mediums.
  • Review external communications, including newsletters, for consistent messaging and branding, and coordinate their production and distribution.
  • Segment communication lists based on buyer personas, targeted verticals, and behaviors such as email engagement and website interactions.
  • Develop and publicize press packets, articles, and promotional materials.
  • Work with vendors to deliver tactics such as event planning, web and podcast production, and video production.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate communications strategies and plans consistent with the organization's strategic plan, including measurable goals and objectives.
  • Monitor communications effectiveness and industry trends, ensure message accuracy, and apply market research findings.
  • Ensure EIR Accessibility requirements are integrated into the project lifecycle, including planning, design, development, and testing phases.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of experience as a Marketing Communications Coordinator.
  • 2 years of experience with external documents such as newsletters, or demonstrated equivalent writing and publishing design skills in public relations, marketing, targeted marketing, social media, or promotional materials.
  • 2 years of experience in email marketing and marketing automation technology.
  • Excellent understanding of email marketing concepts and metrics such as Sender Score, deliverability, and sender reputation.
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Access and report-writer software and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press Style.

Work Location and Schedule

Location: Austin, TX

Schedule: 2080 hours over a 12-month duration

Work Arrangement: Onsite
