Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain internal and external communication products, including articles, feature stories, talking points, scripts, key messages, briefing materials, and other strategic communications content.
  • Coordinate with Program leadership, engineers, subject-matter experts, communications personnel, and other stakeholders to gather information and translate complex or technical content into clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate communications.
  • Review and revise communication products to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, appropriate tone, and alignment with Program and Agency communication objectives and standards.
  • Develop executive messaging and briefing materials for Program leadership in support of media engagements, workforce communications, public events, presentations, and other high-visibility activities.
  • Support video production activities, including concept development, script writing and editing, interview preparation, participant coordination, and preparation of supporting production materials.
  • Support strategic communications planning and execution for outreach, employee engagement, educational activities, conferences, special events, mission milestones, and other Program initiatives.
  • Monitor Program milestones, mission activities, and emerging requirements to identify communication needs and opportunities and coordinate timely content across appropriate communication channels.
  • Provide responsive communications support during missions, major milestones, and other high-tempo activities, including rapid development and revision of written products and leadership messaging.
  • Represent Strategic Communications in integrated meetings and working-level forums and provide communications recommendations based on Program priorities, stakeholder needs, and emerging requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • BA or BS degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related discipline from an accredited institution and five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to develop, edit, and tailor content for diverse audiences, stakeholders, and communication channels.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, accessible, and audience-appropriate communications while maintaining technical accuracy.
  • Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail, including experience fact-checking content and ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with organizational standards and messaging guidelines.
  • Familiarity with AP Style or other recognized editorial style guides.
  • Experience collaborating with subject-matter experts, leadership, communications personnel, and other stakeholders to gather information, develop messaging, and support communication objectives.
  • Ability to think strategically about communication goals, audience needs, messaging, timing, and channel selection.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively within integrated teams involving internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience using content management systems (CMS) to build, publish, update, and maintain website content in accordance with organizational and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to coordinate materials, logistics, and communications support for live and virtual events.

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Experience creating compelling written and visual content that supports
  • communication goals across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to produce videos, including scripting, storyboarding, filming, and basic editing.
  • Comfortable capturing interviews, b‑roll, or event footage and shaping it into clear, engaging stories.
  • Experience supporting outreach activities such as community events, STEM engagements, tours, and presentations.
  • Ability to multitask across writing, content creation, video production, and event support while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with leading a project or event, or experience with self-starting or self-leading (in professional career) is a plus.
  • Experience in document management and control.
