Upon the order of a qualified provider, the Ultrasound Technologist utilizes equipment that employs high frequency sound waves for diagnostic purposes according to policies, procedures, and protocols of the KSC Radiology Department and Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. Imaging services vary by location, therefore, performance of sonohysterography and/or vascular ultrasound may be required depending on assigned site. The Ultrasound Technologist will utilize the designated Radiology Information System (RIS) to complete clerical processes and the designated Patient Archiving System (PACS). May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Performs diagnostic sonography according to policies, procedures and protocols of the KSC radiology department. Understands and applies technical principles affecting optimal production of sonographic images, as well as anatomical orientations and anomalies affecting final product. Understands age related communication needs of patients and is able to effectively convey instructions to patients to facilitate the performance of sonographic studies
  • Participates in Technical Quality Control measures, which include performance of routine equipment maintenance and reporting malfunctions or variances in equipment performance to the Radiology Department Supervisor or his/her designee in the supervisor's absence. Maintains necessary supplies and documentation of cleaning logs as applicable
  • Uses RIS system correctly, according to Clinic and Department guidelines and properly documents, for the radiologist's review, atypical conditions, which could affect image quality and/or content. Understands PACS system and can identify problems with image transmission as they occur and notify Radiology Supervisor or Department Lead Tech when corrective actions are beyond the scope of the technologist
  • Conscious of ultrasound safety measures. Utilizes sterile technique when necessary. Complies with all KSC safety initiatives
  • Participates in formal and in-service training programs of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, department specific in services, and any applicable site-specific training. Maintains current applicable licenses and/or certifications and complies with continuing education requirements necessary to maintain same. May be assigned to other duties, technical or non-technical if training, experience and credentials are deemed adequate by supervisor to perform those duties
  • Interacts effectively with patients and coworkers, including staff assigned to other locations. Communicates readily and well with Supervisor, Lead Tech and Radiologists in giving and receiving feedback. Must have the ability to understand and respond to questions by giving factual information. Capable of dealing effectively with other clinic departments, physicians, and staff. Uses the Mission and Values as a guideline for all communications, verbal, written, or electronic

Required Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited program
  • Education sufficient meet applicant status with the ARDMS or ARRT (S)
  • RDMS

OR
  • RT(R) (S)

OR
  • Must be a current applicant to the ARDMS or ARRT (S) and MUST achieve one of these certifications within 1 year of hire date. Failure to do so will render the individual unable to meet the minimum job requirements for an ultrasound tech and result in termination of employment in that capacity
  • BLS certification through American Heart Association
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer keyboard and grasp elements of digital image acquisition
  • Proven excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science - Healthcare related degree
  • RDMS, (Ab)(OB/Gyn)(BR)
  • RT(R)(S)
  • 1+ years of clinical ultrasound experience
  • PACS and RIS experience
  • Bi-lingual or multi-lingual

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $29 - $52 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
