Area Manager

Introduction to team

This position leads a team within the Account Management Lodging Team and is responsible for the account management, strategy implementation and planning of lodging products for an assigned portfolio/region.

As an Area Manager, you and your team will support the delivery of revenue and/or account management goals by engaging lodging partners and successfully transmitting the Expedia Group value proposition. You will leverage our internal tools and data to help lodging partners maximize their production through the Expedia marketplace.

In this role, you will:

  • Hold overall accountability for the assigned region/portfolio in your sales territory

  • Continuously improve team productivity and effectiveness through coaching

  • Develop skills and strengthen capabilities of team members

  • Drive team performance, manage working relationships, engagement and morale, and build a culture aligned with EG values

  • Collaborate with in market Account Management and other internal teams on strategic and business development initiatives and on operational topics (e.g., market insights and trends, revenue opportunities, aggregator strategies)

  • Lead and support change management

  • Provide input to senior management on scalable solutions to improve process efficiency

  • Represent Expedia in the local market, build our profile with key influencers (e.g., tourism bureaus, hotel associations) and provide expertise to the local industry

  • Promote Expedia’s full product suite to lodging partners and educate them on effective use of our products and tools

  • Lead the execution of business plans to meet or exceed key targets, goals and/or strategic objectives set by leadership

  • Undertake other reasonable duties, as assigned

  • Develop and monitor measures to ensure our products, services and solutions continue to meet partner needs and expectations

  • Oversee a small number of key accounts and/or local hotel chain relationships in the designated territory/country(ies)

  • Nurture relationships with key decision makers

  • Hire and onboard new team members

Experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and fluency in English

  • 5–8 years’ experience coaching and leading teams

  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals

  • Proven track record of leading teams successfully in a fast paced environment

  • Strong project management skills, including managing several projects at a time, prioritizing effectively and meeting deadlines
