Principal Product Manager, Communications & Intelligence

Introduction to the Team:

Expedia Group is seeking a Principal Product Manager, Comms & Intelligence to lead strategy and execution for the capabilities that make our customer communications smarter, more personalized, and more measurable. This role sits at the intersection of CRM, marketing technology, and applied AI owning how we turn customer data into better-targeted, better-timed, and better-performing communications across email, push, SMS, in-product, transactional, and emerging channels.

As an individual contributor at the Principal level, you will act as the senior technical and strategic voice for data- and AI-driven communications, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, Analytics, Legal, and Privacy teams to shape outcomes across the broader CRM and Communications portfolio.

In this Role You Will:

  • Define the product vision and roadmap for communications intelligence — audience insights, personalization models, channel/send-time optimization, and performance measurement.
  • Drive the evolution of customer data signals (behavioral, transactional, engagement) into actionable inputs for journey orchestration and targeting.
  • Partner with Data Science and Engineering to build and scale models for personalization, propensity, and next-best-message/channel decisioning.
  • Own the measurement and experimentation framework that quantifies communication effectiveness and informs prioritization.
  • Drive responsible use of AI/ML in communications, balancing automation, personalization, and customer trust and compliance.
  • Act as a technical and strategic escalation point for cross-team tradeoffs involving data quality, identity, consent, and model performance.
  • Align senior stakeholders around priorities, risks, and measurable engagement and business outcomes.
  • Mentor other Product Managers on data-informed product craft and analytical rigor, without formal management authority.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of industry product management experience, or a master’s degree with 10+ years of experience, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant product management experience, including senior or lead individual-contributor work spanning data, analytics, or AI-driven products.
  • Experience in CRM, customer engagement, marketing technology, or communications/messaging products.
  • Strong understanding of customer data, personalization, experimentation, attribution, and privacy/consent frameworks.
  • Technical fluency across APIs, data models, ML/AI concepts, and platform architecture.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder-influence skills — able to lead through data-backed persuasion rather than formal authority.
  • Track record of using data and experimentation to drive measurable improvements in customer engagement outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience defining and scaling communications intelligence capabilities across multiple channels, including audience insights, journey orchestration, personalization, send-time optimization, and next-best-message or channel decisioning.
  • Depth in experimentation design, attribution, measurement strategy, and data-driven prioritization for customer engagement products.
  • Experience partnering with Data Science and Engineering to apply AI/ML models to real-world personalization, propensity, targeting, or communication optimization products.
  • Demonstrated leadership in responsible AI/ML adoption, including operationalizing model performance, data quality, identity, privacy, consent, and customer trust considerations.
  • Track record of aligning Product, Engineering, Data Science, Marketing, Analytics, Legal, and Privacy stakeholders around complex tradeoffs and measurable business outcomes.
